Absolute Hammer 280ai Help

I have a 280ai with a 26" carbon benchmark tube 1:8 love the rifle shoots 143 HHs with H4831 .5-.75 at 3180 fps. and 168 LRABS with h1000 to .25" and 2850 but picked up a 6,5 saum so thinking of making the 280ai my dedicated elk rifle or bigger game. I am thinking about trying either the 155s but really hope to get the 172s to shoot. My question is with less pressure what powder should i be trying with 172s? I guess i have the same question as the original owner gave me some 123s for the 6.5 saum as well. I use h1000 in that. thnx
The monos penetrate so well that I do not think you will gain anything with the heavy. I would use the 140 absolute,the155max. Speed kills if you have the penetration to go with it. If you were using nosler partitions or a bonded absolutely go heavy. But with the hammers there is no need to go heavy and lose your speed. The federal 155 tipped bonded also is worth looking at.

Opinion's on what bullet?
I have a Fierce Edge in .280 Ackley. Looking over Nosler load data they seem to really like h4831sc for the 150 gr ablr. Also have h4831 no mention of using that powder any advice? Looking for a respectable elk cartridge.

I thought it was .280 Ackley in general, don't know anything about hammers except when I mash my finger it hurts (that's coming from a journeyman)
That's a problem with carpenters hitting the wrong nail. I am glad I didn't nail my fingers to many times with a Hammer.
