Introducing the Absolute Hammer

if you want to measure off the ogive, depending on your tool you still kind of can. Instead of a .284, use your .264, instead of .264, use .257, then .243, and so on. Wont measure off of exactly the ogive, but it will measure off a consistent spot on the bullet nose.

Or just measure OAL.

You could also use the diameter bushing you would normally use, but it would contact the bullet at the top of the first ring, which is closest to the nose and full bullet diameter. As I understand it, everything forward of that is under bullet diameter, and wouldn't touch anything in the throat or bore of the rifle. That forward driving band is the first point of contact, and that's where your comparator bushing would measure from.

All my .308's are 1 in 10 twists. I live in Colorado, though and I generally hunt at 8,000ft and above, so that may be enough to stabilize your 190 to 200 grain bullets at altitude. I'll order a sampling when I get the time, and work up a load for my range, which is at about 7300ft altitude.

Will there be any 264 (6.5) caliber bullets coming soon? I'd prefer to wait for these to do some load development on my 6.5prc but if it will be awhile then I'll move forward with hammer hunters.

Brian made it out of the back country yesterday. They only got 2.5 days of hunting before the storm hit and snowed them in. No rams seen.

He is driving home today and we will get going on the 6.5's, 7mm, and 30 cal bullets right away. 8 twist 6.5 and 10 twist 30 cal are 1st priority.

Any plans for something in 6mm around the 7.5 twist rate?

Thinking this would be a stellar whitetail combo for my little GT!

Bummer for the hunt! Hope they get another shot at it. Can't imagine waiting a lifetime for a tag and not even seeing anything! But I guess that is hunting.

looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the 35 caliber! My whelen was supposed to be a 13 twist but instead it came back a 14. Still very ticked about it! But at least it puts an in one big hole.
