Improving the 308 Win performance

Who knows; my TTSX bullets don't have jacked up tips.

The only really deformed or missing tips bullets that I've ever seen were on Nosler Accubonds. Nosler replaced the bullets and told me to toss out the bad ones. I loaded them up anyway and shot them at 200yds. Oddly enough, they landed right into the group with the new bullets.

If I were you, I'd send an image of those bullets to Barnes with the lot number. No manufacturer expects you to accept sub-standard components.
Barnes said, Nah Bro, they're all good! :(

I've heard of some off-set tips but I have never seen any. I've been shooting their 130 TTSX for several years now.

Either way -good luck.
I thought these a bit excessive. These are closer range hog killers, usually running shots, so I'm gonna use them up and then dump Barnes out of my loading room.

NRALifer, I am defintely interested in trying the 125 gr BDs. I don't have any SRP brass, Currently using Peterson brass and usually Fed210Ms. But I would like to try them out if you have some available to sell. I did score a couple lbs of LVR a while back but haven't used it yet.

I have your 150s now and am finishing a new 308 build as we speak, last week you and I discussed chambers/reamers for my build. I'm just waiting for my Wyatt's box and follower to show up. The 125's are very intriguing 🧐 and I'd really like to try them. Please PM me if you have any I can try. I run Barnes 130 TTSX in my other 308 and am getting ready to try your 150's in that rifle also. Finally have all the components you recommended to me for loading up some test rounds with the 150's.

I'll let you know once I know how the hollow point works. Maybe the end of next week will have something

I sent you a PM. Let me know if you got it.

That's totally unacceptable for a "1st" production bullet, at least IMO. I've bought "2nds" that were much better.

I'm obviously a Barnes competitor but pull one of the tips from thae bullets and take a pic magnified like you did and see if the wall thickness is the same all the way around the hole. The eccentricity of the plastic tip per se may not affect the accuracy of the bullet but it may affect the reliability of the bullet to expand. If the tip shatters in such a way as to leave the stem in the cavity of the hollow point that definitely will keep the bullet from expanding properly.

I have been testing a new prototype 125 gr BD-2 .308 caliber bullet. Have not had the chance to gel test it yet but so far I have achieved a max speed of 3310 fps and the bullet G7BC measures out to be 0.2145 from my 24" 1:9 twist Bartlein. Bullet length is 1.297"with a copper length of 1.197". That calculates to a stability of 1.56 from a 1:12 twist barrel under standard conditions (sea level 59F) at an MV of 3200 fps. Wondering what the interest would be amongst those 308Win and 3006 reloaders who hunt? Your feedback would be appreciated.

Is that with LeverRevolution powder?

120 tac tx as designed for the .300 blackout. I use it in my 300 win mag. Furthest to the left in this picture
Never mind, he did mean that the tips had something wrong with them. I figured he meant the "jacked up" as in ridiculously tall (thinking trucks) tips of those 120s I shared here. Sorry!

Lame. Especially for the Barnes (or any premium) price tag. When my Speer btsp bullets look a bit dinged up I get over it. Not premiums. Didn't Spider-Man say "with great expense comes great responsibility"? Oh wait, it was power, he was talking about power.

Anyway

That sucks man. Probably doesn't even matter in the field but it doesn't instill much confidence to see that.

Only other company I've seen visibly deformed or otherwise messed up tips on from the factory in firsts is Nosler ironically enough. and both Nosler and Barnes cost enough that there better be nothing wrong with them. Barnes I at least understand the price being about their solid copper construction. Nosler is straight up overpriced and overrated and doesn't do ANYTHING that the equivalent hornady bullets (or swift if I just neeeeeed to spend the money haha), which I can find, don't do every bit as well.

Nah, since they're not the new Hornady ELD tip they just melt anyways 🤪 Lord knows all those old A-Maxes were useless until the new polymer.
You really know how to get me started! 😆 I gave Amaxes a mile to get that tip melted off, but they still hit sub MOA. I recovered that non melted red tip in a few hogs shot at distance...Marketing department laughing all the way to the bank. "Hey, tell them we now have non-melting tips! That'll get them!"
