I'm new and trying to better understand my options for modifying my Tikka T3 270 WSM

The regular 270 has killed a lot woods deer. The wsm will be fine unless you just want a shorter handier rifle. 130 gr Nosler Accubonds have killed everything we've shot with it. Not many have taken a step including a 300 lb mule deer. With the right bullet it will kill an elk just fine.

I have a Ruger American ranch rifle in .308. 16.5" barrel. It shoots the 168 LRX to less than 3/4". As I remember it is just less than 2600 fps. Finalizing that load now. Plenty for 300-400 yds.

Rebarreling to 7-300WSM would solve the problem. 300WSM brass is available and it would be easy to neck it down to 7mm. Or, you could neck up your 270WSM brass.

True and a good idea.
But I've already put a 300 WSM barrel and a break in it. I'm running 168 TTSX Barnes in both this rifle and my woods gun a Ruger compact laminate 16.5 in bbl.
It will kill everything I need to very well.

3017 FPS 0.7 MOA ES 11 FPS SD 4.4ftps
A nice node. This is after I switched from Lee FL die to a combo of Redding body die and Lee collet die. Next is some COAL adjustment to see if I can get it even tighter, but honestly for my needs I could stop.
