Maybe I should pair down my collection. Truthfully, I have my favorites and the others could be framed and hung on a wall. Some are invaluable but for sentimental reasons. I'm not asking for those to be included in the list. But let's say, purely for whimsical gab, that you could only have 3 calibers, any calibers, which would you choose?

In my earlier answer I suggested 3 centerfires for all around versatility.

The three centerfire rifles I actually own currently that I wouldn't part with unless things were desperate (barring sentimental/heirloom reasons) would be my savage 111 lrh 300 win mag, my savage 111 270 win (first rifle I owned, took most of my deer with this), and then a toss up between two leverguns, a savage 99 .243 and a Winchester 88 .308

If it's the only 3 I'd ever own i guess being prepared for Armageddon; 22lr, 12 ga, 30-06 or .308. Maybe I'd choose .223 over 22 Lr not sure. Hard question.

I will never get down to 3 guns either. Actually today, I own the least amount of guns that I will ever own. But because I have a few that I still reeeeeaallly want, I should consider selling off a couple that I just don't shoot anymore. I have a one-jagged-hole .257 wby with a leupold vxIII. It's a shame I don't hunt with it anymore but I have a just as accurate 6.5 and 7mag that have become my go to guns. As a matter of fact outside of my 22 WMR, they are all I hunt with. Maybe I should part with a couple to pay for the 300 PRC and the new Nightforce...

NEVER let a bughole rifle get away from you, for ANY REASON short of death, your immediate family or your lifelong best friend that you love like a brother! If you do, you'll regret it the rest of your life!

I have let a few bughole rifles get way from me in my early 20s, back when I was as dumb as a three day old rat. Even though eventually I replaced them several times over, I still miss having a few of them. I have a lot of rifle. I have spent far too much cash, and untold hours on many of my rifles, custom work done by others or myself, upgraded or tuned triggers, installed premium custom barrels, stocks, bedding/pillar bedding, etc. but, still only have less than a dozen bughole rifles!

Even if your build turns out to be the tack-driver that you've always dreamed of, don't do something that you will surely regret later to get it! True bughole rifles are not as rare as they used to be but, short of spending many thousands of dollars on custom parts and work, they are still as rare as only one in 40 quality rifles at best...
