Here's my rig and set-up. Defensive Edge, 338 Edge, Nightforce NXS.

Here's my custom 4 Seasons shooting project aimed at long range hunting and target shooting. My project started with a used Savage F/TR, to which I added many custom componenets, including a stock which I finished myself. Here's what it looks like:

Savage target action(from the original F/TR)
Base Near Mfg. 12 MOA
Alphamount Near Mfg
Telescope S&B 5-25x56mm PMII P4LF
Stock SSS LV/T, ajustable cheek piece, front rail for bipod, bedded with Devcon 10110, Hiviz Xcoil pad, epoxy/Tru-oil finish
Barrel 338 Edge Brux 30", 1/9.5 twist, Near Mfg muzzlebreak.
Barrel Savage 308 Win original 30", 1/12 twist
Barrel 6mmBr Norma Brux 30", 1/8" twist

The original Savage 308 barrel is good for .5 MOA to 500 yds. I'm currently developing a load for the Brux 338 Edge and 250grs Accubond musing the OCW method. I've got two sweet spots with H1000 at 97.5grs and 100.8 grs.

It started as a new SPS Remington 700 rifle in 300 Remington Ultra Mag. Then the only things I kept were the action and bolt, everything else was replaced.
Action blueprinted
27" Pac-Nor match barrel #6 contour chambered in .338 Remington Ultra Mag.
HS precision PST013 tactical stock with adjustable length of pull and adjustable cheek piece.
Wyatt"s bottom metal and detachable magazine (5 rounds).
Replaced the factory Remington trigger with an older Remington factory trigger tuned to just under three pounds crisp. Older factory triggers are easer to get just right.
Muzzle break
Caldwell bipod 6" - 9" swivel model
Burris picatinny bases and 30mm signature zee rings with 20 MOA of offset
Clearidge Ultra XP5 scope 4.5x – 22.5x – 50mm with tactical turrets and Mil Dot reticle and side focus Parallax Adjustment.
Butler Creek pop up lens covers
Weight 14lbs

Hi mate,

How do you like the Clearidge, currently looking at getting one, bit of information would be good, what do you compare the optics with?
Also, what are the sizes on the lenses for the Butler Creek caps?

Thanks

Dan

So far the scope seems really well made. I just put everything together so I don't have much time using it yet. The glass looks clear and bright. I like the power range of 4.5x-22.5. The turrets are well marked and have positive feel. The side parallax is well marked and seems about right( focus is clear at about the correct marking on the knob).
If it tracks reliably I will be happy. When I have time to test it, I will let you know what I find.

That's pretty much what everyone has said they there actually surprised and the turrets are positive and marked well.
I was looking for a low mag scope that has over 20x zoom on the top end besides the NXS..

Thanks mate
Dan

jonthomps,

nice gun. I was thinking of a having GAP build something like that for me. How much does that rifle weigh?

Sideshowbob -

The rifle itself weighs just under 15 lbs. With the scope, rings, bases, loaded it's an even 18. Love GAP and would wholeheartedly recommend them without reservation. Mine shoots in the .3's with factory Lapua and Blackhills ammo! Would also recommend Premier Reticles - it's an absolutely bombproof scope with a great reticle. I bought mine from Mike @ CS Tactical - great guy to deal with.

Started life as a Winchester Mod 70, 7mm08. Mike Bryant built an ultra tack driver still in the 7mm08 caliber, keeping only the action and using a Hart barrel, Jewell trigger, McMillan stock, etc., etc. He tuned everything; pillar bedded the action and topped it off with a US Optics SN-3 3.2-17.

I personally have never shot any rifle as accurate as this one. One hole groups at 200 yards are common using Berger 168 VLD match bullets. It's the rifle and certainly not me as my 55 years old eyes aren't what they were at 22. You get the idea though. This one is a keeper for sure.
