I need some help on swapping a 6.5 CM to 6.5 PRC

I am staring at a nice TIKKA in 6.5 CM and wondering how t make it a 6.5 PRC. Can anyone shed some light and outline the requirements? I am assuming I can't get it to be a 6.5 x 284 due to action length.

You can absolutely do a 6.5x284. It's the perfect size action for it and will just require a barrel change and an 06 magazine. Maybe a bolt stop. You can even punch out your creed barrel if it shoots good. Or you can reload your creed with rl26 and get within 100fps of the 6.5x284. rl26 really wakes up the 6.5creed.

You would have to change bolt heads to get to a PRC. Prc uses a magnum bolt head where the CM uses a standard bolt head.

The 6.5x284 and the prc are very similar in performance. Very close in capacity. The prc would require a bolt face mod to fit the brass. The 6.5x284 would not.

So this seems like I should:
Pursue RL26 load data for the 6.5 CM
Determine what I need to make the 6.5 CM a 6.5 x 284
Is that how you guys are seeing it?

You won't be able to match the 6.5x284 but you can get close. 48gr of rl26 with a 140 will net you around 2900fps. Mine goes 2900 with 147eldms in my Tikka. 200 fps jump is a bunch by any standard. I'm far from the only person seeing these speeds.

Creeds are very easy to tune. Yes mine shoots under 1/2 moa no problem.

Try the rl26 first if it don't gain you enough no biggie. Punch it out to the 6.5x284 and use the rest of your rl26 in it. Can't lose.

Yes the plastic stock on the Tikkas are not as flimsy as most Tupperware stocks.
