I waited a long time before going with a can, and should have done it long ago. Just so much more pleasant to shoot. Went with one .30 cal unit, and use it on everything down to a 204; works great.
YEA! I have no need for a silencer on any of my hunting riffles, or any of my riffles for that mater. Of course I live in northern New Hampshire and don't see the point or need for one!I see a lot of folks are putting silencers on their hunting rifles, even sacrificing ballistic performance by shortening barrels.
Anyone else prefer their hunting rifle to not have a silencer? Maybe I'm old school but I don't have muzzle brakes or silencers on my hunting rifles.
Well, riffles are much quieter than rifles, so suppressors aren't needed….YEA! I have no need for a silencer on any of my hunting riffles, or any of my riffles for that mater. Of course I live in northern New Hampshire and don't see the point or need for one!
Generally, barrels are threaded for attaching the suppressor and not necessarily shortened, I find muzzle velocity improves with a supressor!I see a lot of folks are putting silencers on their hunting rifles, even sacrificing ballistic performance by shortening barrels.

It depends on where and what I'm hunting.. I did have my gunsmith/ machinist custom make me a muzzle brake. My 7mm Remington Magnum justI see a lot of folks are putting silencers on their hunting rifles, even sacrificing ballistic performance by shortening barrels.

Barrels are generally threaded, not shortened! In my experience, supressors increase muzzle velocity along with other benefits! Are you a democrat? Sure looks like it.
By the way I have brakes on everything. I gave my suppressor to my son-in-law.
On the contrary, the boss system is threaded I believe with a standard 9/16x24, so you should be able to use an adaptor and/or a 9/16 threaded can mount with no issue. In fact you could still use the turning function with a can, you just won't have the index scale to reference that the brake bodies have.Unfortunately my hunting rifles have the BOSS system, no can! I see no new rifles in my future as I have no interes in "sexy" calibers. The classic ones suit me just right.
I do have supressors on my black guns and like those.
I was watching a show Pigman, he had a 338 Lapua they were hunting hogs from about 100 yards under a red light, the ranch he was on had a suppressor they put on his rifle, he shot at the hog under the light and aiming for the shoulder, broadside, he blew the nut sack off the hog. The suppressor changed his POI, I never knew why they never tested it before hunting with it, they castrated the boar with a 338 Lapua from 100yds, never found the boar, cracks me up when they showed it in slow motion.Honestly, if I'm polite enough to put a muffler on my car, why not one on my gun?
I get that it changes ballistics. Not a huge fan of how much length most add. But a BIG fan of the noise reduction, and one can design it differently to account for length and weight, and adjust ballistics accordingly.
And no desire to be a Fudd. Times change.
