Hunting Bullets for 7mm SAUM

.280AI (68.0 H2O) and 7SAUM (69.2 H2O) are pretty close depending on brass manufacturer, in this case Nosler. I use RL23 in my .280AI and get 2975fps from a 26" barrel with the 175 Berger Elite Hunter. A hot, but safe load in my rifle. Verified and trued with drops from 250 (my zero), 545, 762, 926, 1201, 1365, & 1456 yards.

I got 2920 with RL 26 and the 168 HVLD with 24" barrel from my 280 AI. I don't think I had any room to go higher. I have never tried the Elite Hunter. I am going to do another build soon with either a 280ai or 7SAUM. Would love to accurately push the the 175 over 2900fps. That is serious mid-sized cartridge bang for your buck. Do you use Magnum primers with the 280ai?

I use CCI BR-2 primers
It is a true sub-.3MOA rifle at reasonable hunting distances. Shot a 2.9" 3 shot group @ 926 yards. Shoots mid-high .2s from 250 to 1100. Didn't go measure, but put 5 into approximately 6" @ 1365 too. Sub-9# hunting rifle.

I also used BR2's with my 280ai. Keep wondering about using 215M. Not really for any good reason.

I use CCI250 in my .25-06AI with good results. 58.0gr. RL22 under a 115 Berger HVLD @ 3450fps from a 28" 1:10" Shilen.

Now that's exactly what I'm looking for. You got a gem there. A light weight hunting rifle giving you those tight of groups out to 1000+ is amazing.

Does anyone have experience or Load data for the Nosler 175 LR AccuBond,
or the Hornady 175 ELD-X
I'm building a custom 7mm SAUM and trying to decide on the best bullet to start with.

If hunting deer inside of 600 yards, dont forget about the Berger 168's. The 168 will provide more than enough energy and be faster/flatter than the 180's.
If you application is larger animals and longer distance, the heavier bullets like the 180's mentioned would be the way to go.

Good choice with the Proof barrel and Manner stock. I have 2 rifles with EH1's and Proof carbon barrels. They are beautiful tac drivers.
