Hunter dies in freak accident after bear falls from tree in Virginia

Crazy, it would be nice to see exactly how it went down for informational purposes. Wonder if the bear jumped or hit a branch while falling which moved it toward his direction

I would rather die doing what I enjoy than be in a hospital hooked up to tubes and electrodes. May he rest in peace.
Amen to that! I had one of my very closest friends die in the front seat of my motorhome returning from a 10 day hunt... massive heart attack. The family and I sadly agreed though that it was better that way...at least he was out doing what he loved. But made for a very difficult 5 hour drive alone once he was taken away! God bless his sole!

My father in law had been ill for a while and started feeling like he was becoming a burden on the family. One of his joys in life was taking the motor home up to Clemson to the football games and having his family with him. He died last year in the motor home lot Sunday morning after watching the Tigers win the evening before from the seats he had for almost 50 years. It always hurts to lose someone but I don't think he could have chosen a better place and time for himself to pass.

Number of years back I stalked a black bear. Was spring and I crossed creek and broke a few branches and it warned me and swatted snow bank it was on in slide chute.I anchored and felt good although it was 60 yrds and I released I think before I was really settled. So I went up alders to look for my ACC.I could hear bear puffing around to my right, this grizzly area so blacks kinda nervous sometimes.Next I know up this giant fir he goes.Well I was about 8 yrds from tree and I put one in him, he goes up higher and I look down and crab another arrow, thats when he hits the deck right by me.Was a nice Pope bear.

Not sure I would call this a freak accident. The Hounds men was going for his dog, so when the hunter shoots the bear, it doesn't fall on his dogs. Usually, they call for an okay to shoot. Someone doing the shooting may have gotten a bit in a hurry or something else happened.
Really sad deal.

Interesting you mention that as the same thought occurred to me. I used to coon hunt a lot and we would always get the dogs off the tree and hold them back until the coon hit the ground. That way the coon didn't fall on them. I told someone yesterday I bet this guy went in to get a dog or one of the dogs to move them away from the tree and someone in the party shot before they were supposed to.
Still very sad no matter how it happened.
