Hunter dies in freak accident after bear falls from tree in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources said a treed bear fell and hit the hunter. The man, 58, later died at a hospital.

Dang...talk about it being your time:
"...a group of hunters chased a bear into a tree, and as the group retreated from the bottom of the tree, one hunter shot the bear. As the animal fell, it struck Lester Clayton Harvey Jr., who stood about 10 feet from the tree, officials reported."

Mr. Harvey Jr. later died @ the hospital.

One of my friends says he wants to die being shot by a jealous husband when he's in his late 80's

Years ago I saw FWP personnel shot a black bear with a tranquillizer dart while he was 50ft up a tree.The bear fell and was killed.They quickly loaded the bear into a pickup while telling the crowd that the bear was ok and they were taking it into the mountains to release it!

I hate to hear stories like this , the old story goes if it can happen it probably has happened and still can . We all get complacent sometimes , we outdoorsmen need to use good judgment at all times and teach our young hunters to be careful and use good judgment at all times so a freak accident like this or something else doesn't happen . This is sad news , but would even be worse if this was a young hunter , learning the enjoyment of the great outdoors . My condolences to the family.
