How much magnification?

Angled for us - it allows viewing with less neck stress while sitting - here again for some folks straight may be more comfortable.

first do not buy inexspensive/cheap.
are you a target or hunter or both ?
without a doubt it all about the quality of the glass,
seeing an x size hole at y distance requires a z diameter front lense.
while looking for impacts you cannot control the size of the impact disturbance. so buy a big front lense.
65mm is a min for over 1000 yards( this is a long range forum)
80-90 is great.
varable to get both low end and high magnification.
save your money, save your money save your money
it will break the bank, buy less and rebuy later.
been there done that, on my FIFTH and last spoting scope.
i wanted more but bought a meopta meostar s2 82hd with a 20-70x eye pc

What were the previous 4 spotters?

Is a reticle a must?

Thanks!

reticles are nice, but not on every make...makes communication from spotter to shooter very clear.
a 60mm kowa, a 100mm celestron about $350, a 100 mm ed glass m2 celestron…$750 or so, very nice..but still not good enough.

I've got a angled kowa and love it, a little pricey$$$ but exceptional glass quality- buy once cry once.

I agree, you'll find that less magnification will work better most times, 20X.
My first time on a 1000 yard range was an eye opener...
I came there with a 25x optic on a windy day, lol.
Before I knew it I was backing the X down to 15-18X.

Sometimes less is more, take care.

I have a 6x24 on my long range rifle. Due to recoil (7-300Wby), it requires a snug hold. Anything above 18X picks up my heartbeat...
