Hornady SST for Long Range Shooting/Hunting?

720 yards might be below the reliable expansion threshold of 1800 FPS.

I did a dope with pretty generic environmentals and I get 1835 at 720 yds, so borderline. Energy was 1046 ft lbs which is on the threshold of the rule of thumb for deer minimums of 1000.

I'm not saying that is the cause, but I'm saying we may not be able to eliminate ballistics either.

I thought the AMax was essentially a ELD-M and not a SST.

Correct- the sst is essentially a hornady ballistic tip. Good bullets with some being tougher than others. The 180 from an 06 is great big game combo
