Is the Hog Saddle worth the extra money over the Pig Saddle?

I have a pig saddle and for precision rifle shooting where you're not running it hard i think it's fine.

What s equally important is a quality tripod on a ball with a heavy duty steel or aluminum mount. No plastic.

Has anyone done much shooting off of this platform? I've been seriously thinking about getting this setup for myself for coyote and deer hunting out to medium ranges (5-600 yards).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I bought a pig saddle this year for my Antelope hunt.
I did get the chance to use it 849 yards on my lope BUT my tripod was my light weight pod for sheep hunting and it took me a bit to get settled(. 1/2 hr). In the end 1 shot did the trick.
I would say after using this vise put it on a good tripod and try shooting off before.
It is a good way to hold rifle works good finding a balance point before field use would have been nice to save me time.
It is a heavy unit I must say and i think I will sell this one to go with lighter version for my usage. It's a little speedy but a half pound in my opinion is worth it

I have a carbon fiber tripod with a Reaper Rest. It's sold by Night Goggles and is a first class set up. I, like you, thought I would use it for coyote and hog hunting. It's a shame. I don't use it. When sitting I use my rifle mounted bipod. When standing I use my tripod Primos Trigger Stick. The bipod and the Primos tripod are lighter and much faster to set up. If I was shooting over 500 yards, did not mind carrying 2 to 3 times the weight, had plenty of set up time, and money was not an issue I would go with the unit sold by Night Goggles. It is very versatile and very cool. Guess it is just hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Used a saddle for PRS. I would not carry into the field though takes to long to mess with and the weight. I carry a light weight pair of shooting sticks that collapse. They are light and quick if needed and I cannot shoot prone.

I have had the Hog Saddle for a couple of years and do carry it into the field. I like it a lot. I have also put tripod shoes on my spotting scope and rangefinder and binocs that allow me to also mount them in the Hog Saddle. I just tighten the Hog Saddle down on the shoes for each instrument.

Lpart, what is a tripod shoe? Never heard of one nor seen one. Can you post a link or a pic please? I have the Pig and one of their heads and their tripod.
