One thing that I think has affected the population is the big increase in corn prices after 2020. My son quit feeding last year, and I suspect a lot of other people did too.
I can promise, you do not.We need some in Nebraska
O-hell your not any fun!I can promise, you do not.
There are rumors of a few in the TN, NC border area of VA, but not many. Bulk of the population is in south eastern area of VA in the Dismal, back bay area. If you hunt that area they tell you to shoot them at will. Most are on private farm land and VDWR does not report their locations. That surprises me, that there`s none in the western part of the state.
Come spring they will eat every turkey egg they findEven feral hogs can be a mixed bag at times. A good buddy has about 550 acres he owns and leases. One of his smaller fields was absolutely dug up by pigs. Looked like a WWI battlefield! Well, the turkeys absolutely loved it! Never seen so many turkey tracks and dusting areas in one place! We think too that the pigs were probably rooting up things that the turkeys liked to eat as well. Who knew??!!
Caprock is such a beautiful place, spent 4 days up there last year in the park. Wish I could have had a rifle with me.We plan to annihilate these come mule deer season up in NW TX. A friend's family spread, a section, butts up to Caprock Canyon State Park.

Along with racoons and armadillo's destroying the nestAnd quail eggs. I'm convinced some of the reasons for our decline in quail numbers is due to hog predation on nests.
In Texas they change the law a couple of years ago, you don't even need a license to hunt hogs on private property.I am blessed to not have seen even a track or rooting evidence, or pictures on feeders in the two years I've owned my place. On my property that is. I have land between two major drainages, and it is a highway for critters. Big bucks, bear, cats, and hogs. I see hogs run over on the nearest blacktop. Surrounding land owners in the area send me pics and hear of them killing one every now and then.
I think why I am not seeing any is twofold. 1. A huge amount of farmland every direction when you come up out of the drainages. 2. Everyone around here, and I mean everyone, has a shoot on sight policy. Local officials turn there heads. NO ONE WANTS THEM HERE!
Pennsylvania and NJ have a small population. If it's small now IT WILL GROW.North east is pretty much void of them
I'm from PA and that has been the rumor for the past 10-15 years. Thank god they haven't spread. Must only be localizedPennsylvania and NJ have a small population. If it's small now IT WILL GROW.
