Help me scope my .308?

You are correct. It was this scope. I just thought 6 due to the 6x zoom. Mine was marked Japan. But the glass in mine sucked... bad... couldn't even read mailbox numbers T 300-400 yards. I have a Steiner 3-12, meopta optika6, and a could NF that I can read the same number at almost double the distance.

Yeah you must have got a bad one. Those scopes are built in the LO factory in Japan. They make the Razor, Bushnell Elite Tactical and and the NF SHV. I've got 2 and they're as good as my SHV and my 4-20 Razor. Too bad you got a bad one.

Have you looked at the new leupold vx 3hd 4.5-14x40 with cds zl and wind plex reticle or the mark 3 hd 4-12x42 (I believe is the objective lens size) with tmr reticle with zero stop? These are the two I've been looking at. The one out of your list would be the NF I've been looking at that same model as well

Looking at a few scopes for a .308 build. I'm planning on a hunting rifle with this one, it's a M700 BDL .308 cut to 18" for use with my Omega suppressor, Greyboe Trekker stock, and TT primary trigger.

Budget $800 +/-, max magnification not to exceed 15X, weight 20 ounces +/-.

Scopes I'm looking at so far.

Used NF 3-10X42 SHV MOAR $730
Vortex Razor LHT 3-15X42 HSR-5i MRAD $800
Trijicon Credo 3-9X40 MOA PH $600

Any other scopes I should be looking at or throwing out? It needs to be in stock somewhere, I don't want to wait on a backorder optic.

I'm figuring a mid range rifle of about 600 yards max on game. I'm leaning NF, but the others have illumination and the NF doesn't. Illuminated reticle aren't a deal breaker, just a nice option. This is also a CO hunting rifle so Sig BDX and othe "smart scopes" are not legal.
Look at Arken Optics .I have the EP4 6-24 x50 FFP...THEY ARE OUT IF STOCK BUT TVEY HAVE THE SH4 4-16×50 & 6-24×50.COST $399 TO $450..
Dang nice for that priced.Good Luck

I have a Leupold 4.5-14X40 VX3i, 30mm tube, CDS for 7mm 150 ELDX @ 2875, with zero stop on my .280 R large target hunting rifle. It is relatively small, compact, good optics, and reliable. The CDS with my load checks out just fine out to about 550 yards on a 500 meter range. Possibly a good used one might be available. I would not want to tote around a 6-24X50 on a .308 hunting rifle.

Just got one. Nice glass, turrets and reticle but heavy as hell for hunting.

FYI: A guy posted a new VX5 3-15x44 Firedot Duplex on here for $840.

I actually read a review yesterday that said they were made in Japan by LOW. Is this not the case anymore? Regardless they don't have a customer service phone number I can find to call them and I sent a email them a week ago to talk about their upper end model. No return email. That kind of does it for me.

Glass is Japanese ED. Scope body and guts are Chinese.
