Help me build a gun!

+1, IMO repeater is big waste of money on the 338 Lapua AI and 408 derivatives. These are not tactical guns, so why have $500 of useless metal and mags.

IMO forget the adjustable base. Put a simple 40 MOA base. Look at your scope options and simple ballistics.

Sightron S3 LR has 100 MOA ($800), NF 5-22 has 100 MOA($1700), Leup 8.5-25 has 100 MOA($1000). Right now those are you best three LR scopes for under $2000. That puts you out to 2000 yards, that is more than realistic with any 338. there is no functional need for a 150 MOA base other than to be able to say you have one.

BH

Surgeon xl single shot $1350
Jewel trigger installed and adjusted $225
Brux SS cut rifled barrel 1.350 shank 30" long $325
Manners stock $475
Pillar bedding $150
open channel(if needed)$40
Thread fit chamber and crown $180
3 Port CSR brake installed $160
ceracoat action and bolt $75

$2980 base price, spend what you want on extras but this gets you the rifle with rail. You can upgrade as money allows for cosmetics. But now you have an action and stock that can wear many barrels over the rest of you life.

Okay, I'm convinced on a custom action now, I guess I will be selling the Weatherby.

Of the following actions, which one would you choose, and why?

Lawton 8500-$895

Barnard PL-"under $1000 with a match trigger" (Found on 6mmbr.com)

Stiller Tac338-$950

These actions are all compatible with Mcree stocks...I would rather have one and be different!

Here's a new estimated price:

Action-$1000 (on the high side)
Trigger-$200
Barrel-$400
Chambering & Crowning-$200
Brake and Threads-$200
Stock-$500 (Assuming it's Mcree, no bedding)
Base-$100
Coating-$100
=================================
$2700
Sell the Weatherby
=================================
$2000

Anything missing? If that was the real cost, I could get some bells and whistles too!

Thanks for the help, more opinions welcome! If anyone wants to buy a Weatherby Mark V in 300 Weatherby with lots of stuff for it, shoot me a PM!
