I'm going to go with "other"... most "turbo goats" being of the light body type just need to get a bullet in them close to the A-zone so I think I'd go with the combo of Weatherby MkV and .257 Wby Mag 100gr bullet with a second option of the 6.5-300 Wby Mag with just about any bullet it shoots.

Other.....long range bow....415gr arrow at 75#.....ha
But....hiking, scouting and stalking is the game....i would go with whichever rifle is the lightest weight.....
If you are stalking for final effect anything will kill.....

Oh man, my first hunting rifle, given to me by a late friend, was a Remington 722 in 257Bob! Made in 1950, my friend's grandfather made the wooden stock and military style leather sling and is has taken many goats, deer and a few caribou and elk. It is a strong contender also with anything 100gn but has the minor drawback of an old Weaver K4 scope, as bulletproof as that old scope is.

Love the responses so far.
257 is a great caliber and even better with it ackley improved !!

Put down a few speed boats in my day
All were done with a .270 winchester shooting 130 gr. Bullets. Ranges from 200-425 yards. All fell in their tracks. Today I would opt for a good 25-06 or the like. Or maybe I would just use the .270!

The 270 is such a great all around platform. I didn't list it because I have yet to dial in a good 130gn load for my Tikka T3, but just last weekend found that it loves Remington Premium 140gn Nolser Balistic Tip ammo.

My wife's standard pronghorn round is a 270 with 130gn Hornady GMX, 54.0gn IMR4350. I just finished loading 42 rounds a few minutes ago. Her Ruger 77 MK2 absolutely loves this round.

Taken a few goats over the years with a few different guns.......basicly the one in my hand at time has workt with no real favorite . They aint hard to kill ya just gotta hitem.
With that being said three or four have been taken with a Tikka ultra lite in 30-06 & 168 Amaxes, easy to carry a great shooter!

If I was to pick a favorite it would be the Tikka lite in 6.5x55 sweede.

Got these three with the Cz527 in 6.5 Grendel a couple years ago, all just long of 400 yards. It does a great job if you get a good range and wind read.

The old Ruger 7mag shooting 160 partitions acounted for most of the early goats.

The old engineer 96 sweedish mauser even got the call one year, two does @ 250 yards with the original open sites got the job done

Kinda long winded mainly because I have never owned a 308 or 270wsm and only shot one deer with a 708. Everyone says a 25-06 is the gun to use on goats but one of mine just looks good (& shots like $#!+) and the other looks like $#!+ and only likes a 75 V max.
Basicly your gonna use the one you decide to take and it will more than likely be enough gun.

MachV, great post and pix! The one caliber that I don't have and I'd like, is a 7 rem mag.

A decision has been made! I'm going with the Tikka .308 shooting 150gn GMX. The 270WSM is shooting its handload just as well but I haven't killed with the .308 yet.

I'm not much on a speed goat as I've never done it but 140 Accubonds in a .270 Regular have anyways put the Fire out on Georgia Whitetails: no tracking necessary.

If I was .270'ing, I can't help but believe 140 Accubonds would be a great choice.

While I do not have a lot of experience with antelope, my choice would be the .270WSM. Flat shooting is your friend for pronghorn in my opinion. Speed kills, you don't need 24" of penetration like on an elk.

None of these took a single step, DRT.

6.5SS w. 150 SMK @ 3113fps, 183 yards

6.5SLR w. 130 OTM @ 2888fps, 391 yards

6CM w. 105 Hyb @ 3101fps, 445 yards

I agree... my Tikka T3 Lite in 270WSM took an early and late doe last year, with a 130gn GMX. Love that round. If I were to guess, that last pic sure looks like E of CO Springs.
