Welcome from Central Arizona! Glad to have a different perspective. I certainly would look at cartridges/components that are readily available and figure out which is more intriguing to your distance. You can always modify larger volume brass to shoot traditional bullets. The 6.5 mm is making a lot of people happy here. I use 7mm currently. Just start researching.

Welcome Doc,it's a great forum for sure ,glad to have you aboard. I'm a huge Peter Sellers fan ,congrats on your $35 dollar find,I've used that same action Magnum of course to build my 338 w/mag . Cheers and keep us posted about what your going to rebarrel that MarkX to .
