Heavy bullets in .257 Weatherby ?

That barrel is 1-9" so I'm going with 110-115 Nosler's.
3450ish is so fun

120gr is the heaviest I shoot due the twist in my gun. But for powder my 257 wby loves H1000 with Barnes 100gr TSX & 101GR LRT.

128gr hammer hunter in a 1:7 twist are .5moa over H1000. This is a heavy dose and was 3340fps. The group below is at 500 yards.

The group next to it is 135gr Berger at 3150fps. It was a starting load that I haven't finished working up yet.

Interesting what you have done. I am having a 25/280AI being built. Had a real hard time in getting a 7-1 twist rate. One Co. shipped out a 10-! twist rate. We had a go around with them. Finally they accepted that they had screwed things up. Still lost a great many months on the build. The Smith put out an order to several manufactory. Still on the wait for a barrel. As things go behind the 8 ball.
The good thing is, I am in the finishing touches of completing my reload shack. Putting storage racks to hold my equipment and components. Should be reloading in a week or little more. "Finally" So at least I'll be able to load and start see what my 6mm/280AI will do.

You are pretty close to Berger's load recommendation.

Retumbo looks perfect on that chart. If I ever get around to working up a load for mine, I'll sacrifice some speed For barrel life and work around H1000 and/or Retumbo.

I find Berger data to be on the very conservative side.

The 3340fps load of mine is VERY HOT in my rifle so start way lower and work up.

It is 70gr of H1000 with the bullet seated out pretty far. Again, start way lower and work up.

Ended up with a hunting load of 64gr Retumbo @3050FPS with the 135gr Berger. My 10 year old son shot a 3 shot 4" group at 1000 yards about a month before his deer hunt! He harvested his first deer at 267 yards last month! Such a cool caliber for kids
