Just sitting here this morning waiting to spill my bean meal off and I suddenly realized that I haven't heard nary a word about a a carbon ring or needing a bore scope to be a really serious shooter in quite a while, it was the rage a year or so ago.
No more carbon rings?

I thought the "The Green New Deal" got rid of all carbon rings.

Found it! Mine was lurking around the muzzle crown inside the brake!

The carbon rings decrease the clearance between the neck and the chamber wall. At some point, the carbon ring starts acting like a crimp, now you see pressure spikes. I saw a 6.5x55 show massive pressure signs on book minimum loads from the carbon ring!
