Has anyone killed more that one animal with one shot?

Never concerned with maiming an animal and it suffering a long agonizing death?
Depends. But not usually.
When you are task with culling or should I say removal eradicating "pests" You do anything you can.

Basically do you feel bad killing a mouse with poison? A snap trap?
So short order no. Not at all I feel worse when something goes wrong and I lose a wounded deer while trying to harvest one .
But sometimes things need to be removed and then you just get a bullet into them and call it a day.

That's not really the same, or at least not the same as what I was talking about.

You say you feel bad when you lose a wounded deer. That's what I'm talking about.

I was hunting elk this year and the opportunity presented itself to shoot 2 elk, one perfectly right behind the other.
I didn't, but for a second I thought about it knowing I had the horse power of a rifle. However, knowing the many variable decided not. So I waited a few minutes and still shot 2 but separately.

Now I have shot varmints, 2 for 1. I am curious who has attempted this on purpose or not with anything from muledeer, hogs, elk, rabbits etc.

What were the results?
Would you do it again?
My oldest son shot and killed two doe with his first shot at a living animal with his brand new 7mm mag. He said he hadn't meant to do it as he had only one doe tag with him at the time—but he was only 15 and probably lied about the whole story. First one was through the neck, and the second one was a perfect lung shot. Neither deer took a step according to his cousin who witnessed the incident. Of course, he was only 15 also!

I saw a guy, who claimed to be an American Indian, hunting with a rifle while he sat high in a tree with a sling. I hunted nearby at the time, and I heard him take a single shot. He eventually dragged two deer past me. When I asked how he managed to get two deer, he said that he shot the buck through the shoulder but the bullet exited and hit the doe in the head that was feeding behind the buck. The bullet wounds on the two deer confirmed what he said.

Ahh yes Mr whitefeather 👍🏻

My buddy killed a cow elk after the bullet went thru a bull. She was bedded down about 30 yards behind the bull. This was with a 300wm and a hot loaded 215 berger hybrid. We couldn't even find what killed her until we skinned the animal. A small fragment literally hit the cow elk between the vertebrae at the base of the neck. Attached is the fragment weight. Talk about minimal meat damage.View attachment 638732
I just worked up the same load @ 2900 fps curious what was the yardage to the bull? That looks like a large chuck of the jacket.

I took down two elk in one shot. I wasn't tring to either. I got a little far back on a bull, The second shot took it down and a cow behind it. There was a hear of about 50 animals. I place the first shot where it wouldn't hit anything beyound it. Then the herd was moving around a lot. I knew which animal I had shot but it appeared that I didn't do a good as job on the second shot. The 2nd shot hit the heart and when on into a cow in the hip and put it down. Anyway I had a friend in camp that tagged it.
I have been in places that I had to be very carefull about touching off the trigger, because there was animals behing it. It was a herd of Impalas, at 30yds at best. Drop it in it's tracks. The guide was pushing on me to shoot at the same time, there was animals behind it. The rifle was a 308 NM with a 165gr Nos BT @ 3300fps velocity.
Never was happy about dropping two animals at the same time, and never forgotten it either. O'well "Stupid is, Stupid does":(

I forgot about this one. There were several of us shooting "chucks", and my good friend was shooting his new 257 Roberts AI.

He was never "timid" about loading it "HOT"…..brass rarely lasted more than 2 or 3 firings!

He shot a "chuck" @ around 150 to 200 yrds. At the shot, rick chuck "pieces and parts" went everywhere. I think he was using Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Impressed with the visual, we went to take a "lookie see". When we got there, he had killed 6 or 7 with one shot. A pregnant chuck, soon to give birth. It was not a pretty scene.

If anyone is interested in "gore photos"…..I think that I can find it in my "photo archives"! 😉 memtb
What is the rule of thumb for "action" (or maybe non-moving game?-lol) pictures on the forum? I have one or two ground squirrel pics I was going to share - not a multiple with one shot, but it was a 3 bagger on one mound...

Let your conscience be your guide…..I don't think there's anything specific about posting "gore" game photos.

Though, you may read the "fine print" on the agreement statement! memtb

I have a couple of veterans out every year for a cull hunt on my place. About 5 years ago I was sitting in the blind with a Marine combat vet. Feeder goes off, whitetail and axis out there about 125 yards milling around. He pulls his rifle up and clicks off the safety. I'm waiting for the shot....and we sit and sit and sit. I'm starting to wonder if he's having some trouble. 2 axis does put their heads down for some kernels and WHAM! He shot both of them through the head...flop, DRT.
"That's what I was waiting for he says, I hate to waste ammo."
What was your MOS? I ask...."Scout / Sniper" He answers

Only with pigs. Best was 4 dead with 1 shot. 30-06 150 Accubond @ 2911 MV. 100 yard shot. 2 were hit in the cranium.

Years ago I shot an ancient mule deer buck with a 160 accusing out of a 7mm stw. Perfect shot through the shoulder but the bullet took a slight left and went through the neck of a doe that was standing about 6 feet behind and a few steps to the left of the buck. Luckily this was back in the day when you got a doe tag with your buck tag in south dakota.
