HAS anyone found a powder that will reasonably shoot the 180 berger VLD bullets????

I know the twist needs to be 1-8 however I have a factory Sendaro that still shoots 1/2" at 200 yds using nosler 160 AB. Everything is DRT. But would like to try the 180 VLD and see what this rifle will accomplish...... PLEASE SHARE LOAD SPECIFICS, I will work up after I confirm data.

I don't think you need a one and eight twist although I do not have a 180 VLD on this chart similar bullets seem to require at least a one and 11 twist rate

I have shot the 7mm (.284) 180 vld in one of my stw's with a 1:9 twist and shot well under .5moa. 76 grains of retumbo, fed 215 mag, nosler brass. 3.700"

Comparing .308 vs .284 bullets in the same weight for barrel twist will really get you scratching your head….

Berger has a twist rate calculator on their website you might check out

R-25 with a max load of @74 gr with cci250. You can't really ask for specific data. Because of all the variables like distance to the lands for your loads. Some 7mm's like .070 for tight groups which is much less pressure than .010 - .030

My STW was a 28 inch and R-33 was really good with 175's at 85 gr. That would make it about 84 gr with a 180

I just found another load with the 180 berger in my 1:9 twist stw. 76 grains of IMR 8133 is one hole 3 shot groups at 100 yards. Most accurate powder I found for that particular rifle. 3.650 oal (its long throated at 3.775 oal to touch the lands so im jumping it .125") velocity is right at 3000 fps with 26" tube. F215 mag, nosler brass. I ran it up to 3150 fps tho the group spread out to 3/4 moa and I started seeing a slight ejector mark so i went back to my accuracy node. 6 shots spread 18 fps at 76 grains via labradar
