Handloading impact on accuracy with a load that a rifle doesn’t like? And average behaviour of factory rifles with factory ammo

If you are going to switch stocks, I would go ahead and do that before wasting any more ammo. A different stock can change the harmonics considerably. So, the ammo that shoots good in one stock, may not shoot as well in another. It is possible that it could also shoot better in the new stock, but you won't know until you do it. There is no sense in wasting ammo, then changing and starting over.
You didn't say what kind of rifle it was, but there are plenty of videos on bedding an action out there. If you wanted to play around, you could bed the current stock to see if it makes any difference and learn something at the same time.....just a thought.

A bedding suggestion…..for what it's worth!

Consider full-length bedding…..if ya don't like it, you can always go back and float it later!

I'm a firm believer in full-length bedding……especially on hunting rifles. When I had my hunting rifle built I had the option, float or full-length.

My thoughts are, if a rifle is to be used in the field and has the potential of getting any debris/foreign matter, snow or water between the barrel and the stock…..these things can change the barrel harmonics. In the case of snow/water getting into the barrel channel, and then freezing, it can created a pressure point…. likely changing you POI and possibly negatively affect your group sizes!

Just some thoughts from a paranoid hunter! 😉 memtb
Thanks for the suggestion.. i will discuss about this with the maker of the stock

Really? A load that my rifle likes could become less accurate after improvvisamente the stock and bedding the action?

Yes. Stock design and stock material can change harmonics, especially if you go from wood to synthetic or vice versa. The whole gun has harmonics, not just the barrel.
I see. Didn't expect that. After many years of being a shooting and hunting enthusiast is still have a lot to learn. Amazing, thanks for the reply.

Your body has harmonics and acts like a mass damper. Its why I'm not a fan of lead sleds and having someone else sight your gun in for you. I'm also a fan of sighting in from your expected shooting position, prone on dirt or rock or off a pack, etc. Little errors add up to big ones at distance.
