Hammer Hunter Load Data, (See page 1, Post 8)

Data for 6 Rifles that I've worked up Hammer Hunter loads for. (Includes one Shock Hammer, and one Sledge Hammer.) These are all loads I settled on after finding pressure. Some have since been replaced by Absolute Hammer loads. As stated many times: Your results may vary. Start Low and work up carefully!

.25-06 w/103 gr. Hammer Hunter.
24" Christensen 1-10", Nosler Brass.
Fed 210 Primer, COAL: 3.295, nk tension .003
IMR 7977 @ 60.0 gr. = 3346 FPS
Notes: Best 100 yd. group .503"

6.5 PRC w/124 gr. Hammer Hunter.
26" Christensen 1-8", Hornady Brass
Fed. 215m primer, COAL: 2.910, nk tension .003
H100V @ 60.0 gr. = 3110 FPS
Notes: Best 100 yd. group 1.05". (This is the only rifle I've seen that doesn't do its "best" with Hammers.

26 Nosler w/124 gr. Hammer Hunter.

Fed. 215m primer, COAL: 3.415, nk tension .003
US869 @ 89.0 gr = 3457 FPS

.270 Win. w/117 gr. Hammer Hunter

US869 @ 88.5 gr. = 3162 FPS
Notes: Best 100 yd. group .278"

33 Nosler w/186 gr. Shock Hammer
26" Nosler 1-10", Nosler Brass
Fed. 215m primer, COAL: 3.325, nk tension .002
RL19 @ 83.0 gr. = 3229 FPS
Notes: Best 100 yd. group .838" (EFP=4374) .338's required turning necks.

33 Nosler w/225 gr. Sledge Hammer
26" Nosler 1-10", Nosler Brass
Fed. 215m primer, COAL: 3.350", nk tension .002
RL22. @ 79.0 gr. = 3028 FPS
Notes: Best 100 yd. group .543" (EFP=4579)
.338's require turning necks.
 
These loads were safe in my rifles; do not ASSUME the same for yours. Work up loads safely using standard safe reloading practices.

All loads in yellow highlight were 1/2 MOA on average. Some ladders I did not even try to find a accuracy node since I did not like the velocity achieved. The 196HH out of my Sendero 300WM was an absolute hoot to shoot at 1/2 MOA at 3160 fps! That is now my elk and Indiana whitetail load for sure! The 166HH was best with RL17 at 65.8 at 3250 fps and maybe be next in line for elk. I didn't finish off the .243 Win 80HH with W760 but still was at 3600 so it is smoking! I have a ladder ready to go with Staball 6.5 for the 80HH and I think it may touch 3700! The 117HH in my 53 year old Savage 110C .270 Win was cruising at 3300 fps and shot easy 1/2 MOA.

This load data is from before my shoulder surgery on April 1st so I have been waiting to get back to range once shoulder can take some hits. The .243 80HH with Staball 6.5 really has my interest to see where it tops off.

I also have a .270 Win build in works, waiting for barrel that is now in production. My plan is to use the 156HH with RL26 pixie dust and with 27" 1:8 barrel, I am thinking this will be a laser.

I purchased a Tikka 6.5 here that just plain shot the 124HH sideways. Yup Keyholes. A shank in the golf world. After a few quick conversations Steve is sending replacement!! No need to send the others back. WOW! Gun is .5 or better with Hornady factory and barrel twist measured 1/8.

Another reason to support an awesome product. Joe
