Yes Crimped. I like to crimp the small cal. Bullets. Many are now using Lee Factory Crimp Dies (FCD) to add varying amounts of crimp.
I had a 243 that had a love affair with 3031 years ago so I thought Id try it again. Was having trouble grouping with slower powders with the 75 gr so I went to the fast side and it paid off.Looks like you've got excellent results there. That IMR-3031 load is smoking and tight.
Yesterday I noticed that the crimped ammo had a significant increase in velocity spread unless my LabRadar was acting up. Interestingly enough, the ammo still grouped well at 400yds.Many are now using Lee Factory Crimp Dies (FCD) to add varying amounts of crimp.
That's odd, Usually it works the other wayYesterday I noticed that the crimped ammo had a significant increase in velocity spread unless my LabRadar was acting up. Interestingly enough, the ammo still grouped well at 400yds.
The readings were suspicious especially since the ammo grouped well. I'll give it another try next week. I did see a 50 ft/sec swing which I never saw before. I can generally maintain single digit SDs.That's odd, Usually it works the other way
