Hammer bullets WTH

The crap happens was only to say, some critters are tougher and just take it better than others. I've had deer take off 200 yards with their heart blown clean out the other side and about a 4" hole. Not the bullets fault or placement, unless you want to plant then with a shoulder hit.

More info is definitely needed.

My apologies as I'm not targeting any individual what I'm honing in on is the flaws in this design

Hope that makes sense

Cheers

I just thought I'd stomp the nest. I'm in Mexico mule deer hunting and my 7 prc is loaded with 170 hht . I just thought I'd try them being I have never killed anything with hammer bullets and this will be my last time ever shooting these things! Shot a buck at 318 had to shoot him twice and could have used another. Shot buck at 785 he needed another bullet is running 3220 FPS!
Going back to my Berger's and Barnes !
Yes all well placed shots! Just my personal opinion I'm out!
What's the twist rate on your rifle?

I am not understanding this very well, I know even in same calibers different weight perform differently but that many failures lead me to think something has changed.
I had wondered with kills of my own but there are many variables so it was an "unknown"to me.
I am starting to wonder if the original ones I used are internally different or the metallurgy is different? I don't know, just call Steven he has always been there for me. Maybe tomorrow I'll let him know about this thread and see if he can help.

What powder and barrel length did you use to achieve 3220 FPS? You should provide that to the Hammer folks so they can put in on their websites load data page.

Hate to say it, but ALL bullets can, do, and WILL fail due to situations.
Just like my post regarding Nosler 260g Accubonds, been using use them since they were released, never had an issue until I shot a Water buff in the hip, 6" of penetration and it didn't exit the hip bone. Never seen that before or since.

Cheers.

Hammer bullets are tested by lots of people. There is a guy in Australia that shot hundreds and hundreds of animals and verifies them. He dissects them basically. He isn't sponsored, just a good guy helping them from what I hear at my gunrange. So hopefully it was maybe just a wrong combination?
