Hammer bullets WTH

I just thought I'd stomp the nest. I'm in Mexico mule deer hunting and my 7 prc is loaded with 170 hht . I just thought I'd try them being I have never killed anything with hammer bullets and this will be my last time ever shooting these things! Shot a buck at 318 had to shoot him twice and could have used another. Shot buck at 785 he needed another bullet is running 3220 FPS!
Going back to my Berger's and Barnes !
Yes all well placed shots! Just my personal opinion I'm out!

Might want to try Hornady, 180 gr. ELD-M's or, 175 gr. Elite Hunter / 184 gr. Hybrid, Berger's,.. in the 7 PRC

IBTL: in before the lock. What posters on a message boards will sometimes say in response to a thread/topic that will eventually be locked/closed. This is a way to show that the thread is incredibly dumb or goes against the rules of the message board. Used to sometimes get in a free post to raise one's post count before the topic gets locked, preventing any further posting in it.

I'd love to know more on the wounds & pictures would be lovely as they will tell a lot of what's occurred & a bit more information on what occurred will give some more insight so could we please have
shot angles
Length of penertration
Straight line penertration or turn tumble
Width of wound & where the wound started to do it's better work or just pencil ( transition zone extremely important)
Also if you caught a pill did it have a
Plugging of hp
Full petal separation to the bottom of the hp or only partially down or a little flange @ the hp rim
Nose over
& the list goes on as it does with all pills when your wanting to know what's occurred if one can work this out is yet to be seen but put the pieces together & it will come as it has with others on the vast majority the rest IT's keep shooting & watching as the pattern will reveal itself


Some are going to say but critter is dead so all good others will be wanting more out of the pills killing abilities as the op has voiced their opinion on

First off the bat don't believe it's a one off & crap happens as keep shooting & it will rear it's ugly head again & it's shown it's more likely to occur with the longer hammer pills than the better balanced ones
So looking forward to finding out a little more

Although now that ibtl I'm kinda thinking yep this thread maybe nuked which is a shame for us hunters but great for hammers

Definitely has the potential and opportunity to show people more and if there's indeed an inherent flaw with this bullet or type of bullet. Without any further details though, it does leave us to just speculate, unfortunately.

Seems like he's still out hunting so maybe it'll be a bit before we get more details, if we do.

I also don't expect everyone to be thorough in necropsies and provide us with every bit of detail we could hope for. Some guys just aren't into doing that sort of thing, and that's ok. Sometimes we just have to take what we can get and extrapolate whatever we can from it.

The crap happens was only to say, some critters are tougher and just take it better than others. I've had deer take off 200 yards with their heart blown clean out the other side and about a 4" hole. Not the bullets fault or placement, unless you want to plant then with a shoulder hit.

More info is definitely needed.
