Today I went too my range and did a ladder test with the 109 gr hammer absolute shot from my 6.5 prc Proof Research 26" 1-8 twist barrel ,action Curtis Axiom action. The powder is N560 with cci 250 mag primers. The oal is 2.860 004 neck tension hornady brass, with a lee crimp powder charge 61 grs 3435fps 62. grs 3489 62.5 grs 3575 ,63 grs 3592 62 grs had slight bolt lift and 62.5 grs had a little more lift with a small ejector imprint . When I got back too the reloading bench resized and primed ,all primer pockets are still good and tight . I did a eight shot test but had a couple of miss readings so recorded what mattered first 5 shots .75 and last 3 shots .5 over all 8 shots 1.25 moa 100 yds . I think this might be my go too bullet for the ranges I hunt .this test was done off of a single bull bag no rear rest with the after noon sun in my eyes quarantining from the Covid with nothing better too do after putting hay out for the cows . I'm a little disappointed I was shooting for 3600 fps oh well that's life. I'm going too try and send a picture will be my first still learning.

You might change powder. N560 little bit slow for that lite bullet. I'm getting 3300ish out of 97g absolute hammer in a 6.5 creed. With no pressure sign. How far off lands are you seating your bullet
I'm at .030 I can squeeze another 50 too a 100 fps out of it but that's where I'll leave it Im shooting a 90 gr absolute 7 grs lighter than your 97 from my 25-284 at 3874 fps I think 3600 fps from a 109 6.5 gr bullet in the prc might get it done

I got 3460 and pushed 3500 with n560 with the 123 Absolute. You seem to be okay. Faster powder might get you to 3700-3800
Same here with N-165 63.5 grs 3450 N560 will get me too 3500 with the 123 absolute have you loaded for the 109 absolute how much more vel do you think I should get from that bullet what powder ,charge etc.

No way your going too get that kind of gain with a 14 gr lighter bullet , but if you do please inform me 300 fps sounds unrealistic . Please recommend what faster powder I should use H4350 is too fast I still have room for more N560

Thanks for the response what have others got from the 109 gr hammer absolute and what powder charge in the 6.5 prc

I'm running 90g abh in 257wby. Love them. When I talked to them when doing my load development. I was told 20k off lands if mag will accept the length.

H4350 works well in my 6.5 saum with the 109s

What vel and charge I got too 3508 fps with 58 grs with slight stiff bolt lift and didn't see me making it too 3600 so went too N560 .I can push it or try a few things and get over 3600fps .curios what max vel anyone else is driving this 109 absolute

Sounds to me like you are just tickling on pressure. I would say you at a top end load. I am not sure it is worth tinkering with a diff or faster powder. Generally the only reason I would try a faster powder is if I run out of case space before being able to get pressure. My guess is another powder will likely reach pressure about the same velocity. A quicker powder will likely burn more in the chamber and less in the barrel and likely show pressure sooner with less velocity.

I will add that we have seen much higher velocity in the prc with large rifle primers vs magnum primers when loading Hammer Hunters. If you are using a magnum primer it would be worth trying a standard lr primer.

. Thanks Steve I have tried H4350 and pressured out with bolt lift at 58 grs , then changed too N560 up too 63 grs the powder is cut too where the case fill will max out at around 65 grs or so with out too heavy of compressed load . Thanks for your input trying too figure out what others are getting vel wise with that bullet from the 6.5 prc
