H1000 Alternative

H1000 and Retumbo are made in Australia by ADI and are AR2217 and AR2225 respectively as are Varget, H4350, H4831, H4895 and many others, also not available here in Australia at present either. See attachment straight from the ADI website.

Now that you are overwhelmed with recommendations, what other powders you currently have in your inventory? As you can see, we all have varying pet loads.

H4831SC is "my" go-to powder for my .300 WMs. My current accuracy load with 190 Berger VLD is H4831SC, CCI250, .015" off the lands, 3043 FPS out off 24", and .5-.75 MOA at 1K if I do my part.

Feenix, 7977 will work well. I just traded a jug of it for primers & 200 gr MKs on this forum. It & H1000 were my go to powder for my 300WM until I tried RL-26. I am shooting a 1-10 twist Bartlein bbl. I find I can't get bugholes with anything under 190 grains. If things return to normal where RL-26 is easy to find consider trying it. I'm shooting bugholes with 190s & 200s at 3200+ fps by LabRadar. Gained +/- 200 fps with single digit ESs & SDs punching just 1 ragged hole at 300 yds. I only have 100, 200, & 300 at my house.

Looking at the Relative Burn Rate Chart in the Lyman 50th edition: H1000 is 119th on the list. The powder at 118 is N170 VitaVuori,and the powder at 120 is Magnum, Ramshot. I think it is reasonable to say getting as close as possible should work well.

Bruno`s has been selling H1000 every couple weeks.Check them daily.They are selling mostly bulk by the case.10 one pounders in a case.

If you can't find that, MagPro, Ramdhot Magnum, Vihtavuori N170 and Norma 217 are good candidates. Forget Reloader 26; you'll find H1000 before you find that.

I've had good luck with IMR-7828ssc in the 300 win mag and it seems like it's the easiest magnum powder to find right now. That may just be my area of the country though

As others have said, for that bullet in .300 WM, H4831 is a great choice. Not finicky and I've found better consistency between lots.

I've been watching this forum for a while, novice reloader, shot first bull in Colorado last year with XBolt 300WM. Reload with H1000, Nosler brass, 180 AB, 215 primers. Can't find H1000 so wondering which other powders are about the same to start a new load?

The 2 I've found to be the closest are IMR7977 and N565. RL26 is a similar but a faster and harder to find than than any of the others.

You could step down in burn rate speed and try IMR8133, Retumbo, or N570. You'll need a compressed load likely to come close to the velocity of H1000. I shoot 8133 in a compressed load for my 6.5 PRC using the Barnes 127 LRX. It's giving me 1/2 MOA accuracy.

You should give a try to Reload Swiss (RS); don't know under what brand it sells in US; I do use H1000 and Vith 165-170-560, but RS 70, 76 and especially 80 are excellent with heavy magnums Like 338 Lapua with 300 grs; 70 is a winner for lr loads in 6,5-284 and 6,5x55 both with Eldm 147. Give them a try...

Look on NOSLER.com , at reloading data center .

Select the .300 Win. Mag., then you can choose your bullet weight class , and you will see a drop-down menu with numerous powders , charge weights , and velocity produced with each powder choice .

My favorite , H4831 , is not listed in powder choices , although IMR4831 is listed as producing the most velocity of all powder choices listed for 180 grain bullets . H4831 is slightly slower burn rate than IMR4831 , so you could develop a load in the 3100 + FPS range , with a totally temperature stable powder that is extremely accurate and consistent .
H1000 is also on the list .

I don't know the source of this burn rate chart, but it sure doesn't correspond to my experience with Power Pro 4000-MR in .270 Win. I believe it is closer to Ramshot Hunter than Win 760.
