I am simply noting specs that can affect weight. Similarly, if yours is chambered in .26 cal like @ducky, it might be a tad heavier than 2.5 lbs.SENDERO

Fluting has no effect on cooling, only weight savings. They're are multiple test to show Carbon cold faster and had less of a poi shift when it's hotI have read that carbon barrels distributed heat better. Usually by the company that manufacturers them.
I was at the range when my gunsmith was test firing a rifle that was just completed. He had to wait twice as long for the barrel to cool as another rifle with a fluted stainless barrel. Both were 6.5 CM and the contour looked about the same.
Bear in mind, I was shooting my own rifles, so I did not ask Matthew any particulars except the calibers. Also, the only light rifle that I own is 100 year old Steven's Crackshot for shooting bunny rabbits.
I agree, it's like riding a mtb bike! But if we really need to worry about saving even a pound on a rifle. Maybe we should worry more about getting ourselves in better physical shape ( me included). Everybody wants light weight weight short barreled rifles. 5 years down the road we'll be back to heavy long barreled rifles because some manufacturer says it's the latest and greatest. I'm all about latest and greatest. But how much are you really gaining over present day stuff. Most people if you can afford to keep up with the latest gun trends, you could never afford to go on a hunt ever again.
I should think one seeing barrel heat mirage off a hunting rifle barrel is doing something wrong.Carbon 6 (I have had three) seem to be heavier than Proof, Helix 6, or Christensen. That said, it is usually oz.
6 vs 3.5 lbs for the same profile, you choose, but, they sure look sexy.
Carbon wrapping on a barrel is like putting it in a sleeping bag in my opinion. They take a while to cool back to where mirage coming off them doesn't affect seeing the target on a cold day.
This reminds me of what Jeff (BROZ) used to say, "I can shed some weight by taking a dump," or something like that. But if we really need to worry about saving even a pound on a rifle. You will 100% see it if you do what your supposed to, and take your hunting rifle to the range to practiceI should think one seeing barrel heat mirage off a hunting rifle barrel is doing something wrong.
Shave the weight off everything else besides your shooting system. Buy a lighter pack, buy lighter more expensive clothes, etc. Ultralight rifles just dont shoot as goodThis reminds me of what Jeff (BROZ) used to say, "I can shed some weight by taking a dump," or something like that.

Yep! Or condition yourself so weight is not an issue.Shave the weight off everything else besides your shooting system. Buy a lighter pack, buy lighter more expensive clothes, etc. Ultralight rifles just dont shoot as good
That's definitely not true. I run carbon barrels myself. But as far as cooling fluting increases surface area of the steal. This it has more area to distribute heat. It indeed does help cooling. To what degree. Who knows will it matter who knows but the science says more surface area means more cooling.Fluting has no effect on cooling, only weight savings.
