Next year I'm going to be getting into some more out west hunting. I've just been using my cheap 300 win mag.. I picked up a browning x bolt in 28 nos, needing a scope for that was thinking vortex, any suggestions? Or would I be better off selling the xbolt and getting a Christiansen or cooper?

I would look at Seekins before the two mentioned but who knows your Browning may shoot lights out , its been known to happen

I would bed and float the xbolt change the trigger spring and see what happens you could be amazed

It sounds like you have an X-bolt and are considering selling it bc some have had accuracy issues. That makes no sense to me considering you can test out how accurate your gun is and make a decision not based on internet posts but actual experience - use several different kids of factory ammo (if you can find it) or work up a load.

"out west" isn't another world. What's wrong with your Winnie? And why not try the xbolt before you switch? I shoot my plain Jane M70fwt 270 to 1000 yards. Do you really need more than that? Most shots even "out west" are under 300 yards anyway. You don't necessarily need an ultra sniper rig to hunt a few state lines to the left.

Only after you have shot it and discover it needs work. Until you shoot YOUR rifle you have zero data points on which to make a decision.

OTOH, just box the x-bolt up and send it to me as a Christmas gift...LOL
