Got a new rifle, sending it back to the factory

So u guys r saying the hornady bashing got guys banned?

No a sponsor talking about ballistics got some guys banned, and another guy talking about a bad interaction with his gunsmith got him put on probation. Anyway, we are way derailed for this OP. I'm pretty sure he didn't break rule 7. It's my fault for derailing the thread.

Guess I've spent too much time reading political memes lately, missed all this, but I've never read the rules, but rule number 7 has clearly been stomped on by hornady haters a lot, so I guess it must be if they complain or something?

Quite frustrating really.
I got the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmore, AICS patern mag, mounted up and bore sighted the scope. Right off the bat, fail to feed. Every single round. Ok, no problem. I put 30 rounds through it at 25 and finally got something resembling a group. Moved to 100, and shotguned the target. 21 rounds later I gave up. I put 3 rounds of the same ammo through my axis and got a 1 inch group.

On later examination I find that as a round is stripped from the magazine it is nosing into the barrel steel right under the chamber. Every single round. I tried a new magpul mag and it did the same thing. So not a mag issue. So now it gets to go back to Ruger. I have never had to do that before.

I decided that I am going to give the 130 SGK hollow points a try as my reloaded round for both rifles.

Fun times.
I have the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. I cannot speak to the feeding issues youre having because my model uses a standard Ruger mag. However I can speak to the accuracy problems.
One of the issues it has is the cheap stock, specifically the forearm of the stock. When I recieved mine the supposedly free floating barrel was touching in several spots.
I took a knife and some 80 grit sandpaper and made sure it didn't touch anywhere. Don't be shy whittle it down.
My rifle is a sub MOA rifle with a Primary Arms 4-14-40 Mil Dot and Hornady 143 gr ELDX. Not bad for a rifle under $400.00. Less the scope of course.

Look...we all are adults ( chronologically anyway...) here. This is not hard guys. Being angry and name calling is not a sign of strength manliness. And - Semper Fi! - *BUT*...that still does not mean that a Marine "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" attitude is good for you in the civilian world. And- folks...that is where we live. In a public, civilian world. I don't have to like it - but I have to accept MY RESPONSIBILITY now - which is different from the past - to be part of a civilized society. That is just the facts.
I kinda think of this place as a big friendly party. One I can discuss products, issues and such - with respect to those I disagree with without being disagreeable. There is plenty of room in the rules for being frank - and truthful, without being offensive.

And - just like any party or neighborhood BBQ...FLAMETHROWERS are frowned upon........
they take away from the focus of fun and learning - even learning about a problem with a product - that can be talked about in a manner respectful of all...WHy is that a difficult concept? ( That was a rhetorical question...not one to incite further negative and frustrated feelings to spew forth....:D )
Peace, brothers..."WE" - all of WE...are not the enemy.......

I'm not the police here, just trying to give a heads up-- but he definitely started the thread to complain about having to send it back--- and he did not ask for help on how to fix a problem--just trying to keep anyone else from hitting the short term or long term ban list--- we have recently lost several members

here is rule#7, : There will be no threads started for the purpose of airing your problems with companies or individuals you have done business with. (Complaint Threads) Handle those issues privately. This rule applies whether the complaint is against a LRH Sponsor or not.
That is a real, real dumb rule; I would be interested to know if someone had a problem with weapon they had purchased.

I recently had problems with a new Ruger Guide Gun in .375 Ruger and had to send it back to them. They tweaked it as much as they felt like and got it down to a 1.5" group at 50yds, so 3MOA, and then sent it back telling me that a 3MOA group was withing Rugers standards for a hunting rifle. I'm not bashing them here, this is simply what their standards are and I am openly sharing that. I don't agree with them on that and will end up redarreling a new rifle in the spring when I can come up with the $ to do so.

I had an Issues once with my Ruger sighting in new scope, first shot was OK then all the others were everywhere but the target, after 20 rounds of changing the scope I gave up. after a while I checked the scope again and found the scope was touching the Barrel so every shot threw off my scope, Changed the mounts and WaLa shoots the same hole each time.

That's very unfortunate. I bought one on a whim and mostly because I got it for a song. I took it out to the range after mounting a Leupold VX 6 2-12 on it. Bore sighted it at the range and then proceeded to put every shot in the bulls eye with three different factory loads from 120 grain TTSX to 143 grain ELDX. It is one of the best shooting rifles that I own. Literally right out of the box half MOA out to 500 yards, which is the farthest that I have shot it. I bought it for a truck gun to shoot coyotes. Ugly as a bucket of, well you know, but man does it shoot. I saw where someone on here said something to the effect of you get what you pay for and to a certain extent he is correct but you should never get a repeating rifle that will not chamber a round. Good Luck and I hope you get it back in fine working condition and it shoots as good as mine does. If so you will be tickled.

My grandfather had a great saying that is particularly meaningful in this case: "Son, there are 2 ways to say anything. You can tell a woman that she has a look that can make time stand still - and you are a charmer. Or you could tell her that her face could stop a clock - and you are an A-hole....."

It is not WHAT you say...it IS HOW you say it that makes the difference....:D

I have several old m77 rifles- flat bolts with factory Douglas barrels on some they are all superb rifles and I have one old flat bolt 243 I just cant replace with anything I like better. I just built a new 6cm on a blueprinted 700 action, proof barrel, Timney CE, Mcmillan and I know when season hits ill be toteing the old ruger. I dont like the mkII's or American, Ruger had it going on up until to 90s I dont think they are near what they were same from remington, the new action i bought was straight up junk and didnt mill as well as my old actions if this kind of info get you banned im waiting.

The first thing to check is that the stock isn't touching the barrel. Typically it's going to be at the left front of the stock. Mine was all over the place until I did some reading and found this is a very common problem. About 15 minutes of work reduced it to a sub-MOA machine.

I sent my new Ruger American in 30.06 back to Ruger on Sept. 17th due to failure to load. On 9/23/19 Laura at Ruger said they have it and the tech is working on it.
On 9/24/19 I asked to speak to a manager she gave me Mia. Mia was very nice but the tech has not annotated my rifle history so there is no progress.
On 9.25.19 Today I spoke to Anita, she said that they are waiting for a new bolt.
On 9.26.19 Anita called to tell me that the Techs are waiting for the new bolt to be manufactured. She expects to be able to ship it back to me tomro.
10.1.19 Lori said it was test fired with 8 rounds, the test was fine. It was shipped out on the 27th.
10.6.19 I put a new scope on it went to the range, after zeroing (8 rounds) it is shooting ½ MOA at 100yds. It took a while but I'm a happy guy. Ruger Customer Service was good for me even though my new rifle needed a replacement bolt.

I have a Ruger American in 6.5 Grendel. Feeding is terrible, action is terrible, accuracy is terrible. Ruger is a great company but this gun is a Turd. I have numerous Hawkeyes that are fabulous but this 6.5 Grendel is poopoo'd. Just the facts jack. Just too many other options out there in the 400-450 price range to have to hassle with poor QC.
