My wife and I went to Tremonton Utah to try our hand at the rifle golf with Spirit Ridge two weeks ago. All I have to say is it was fantastic. the course targets were a blast to shoot at and the guys running it are extremely fun to visit with as you shoot the course. It took us around 3.5 hours to shoot the course. the day was beautiful. Slight 10 mph wind but great practice. the best part of the whole day was My wife. She hit the 1000 yard moose target on her second shot. it was a dead ringer. Stewart ( the brains behind the opperation) and I were discussing just how neat it would be for her to hit it just before she shot the target. She is officially the 2nd woman in the 4 years they have been doing this to hit that target. Hats off to my wife. She was shooting my 300WSM. these guys at Spirit ridge are looking at adding a few more targets to the course and while we were there were looking at a potential spot to shoot out past 1500 yards. all of you guys on this forum need to go check this out. it is truely the only golf game that I actually am good at. friendly people and a wonderful area. we are already planning our next trip between now and October. Just wanted to share a little bit about this and I hope you all find it as interesting and fun as my wife and I did. the only thing that sucks is that she gets a 1000yard club hat and I don't. Yes that is right she kicked my butt with my gun on that target. I am very proud of that moment. it was the first time she really ever shot out past 5oo yards.

I have told many people,,beware out teaching your wife or g f to shoot cause someday she will out shoot you..
Great to hear she is into the sport, you are lucky..

LRF,

Good to hear several things

  1. Your wife out shotcha:D on that target.....
  2. You were thrilled with Spirit Ridge.
  3. Yur from Idaho. There are more and more all the time gathering in Len's Living Room
There are getting to be enough LRH shooters in South Idaho to put together a 4some or what ever its called and challenge some of the Utah SOBs (South Of the Border) to a round every once in awhile.

I did it once then relocated to NM but will be back shortly.

Good goin'

they have a Masters class for those with turrets on their scopes and a classics class for those with no turrets to dial up. the masters shoot the further yardages and the classics shoot the closer yardages. each station has 3 sets of targets with a total of 3 stations and a station for the jackpot shot at I think 1200 yards is what it was and the hole in one shot out at 1000 yards. if you hit the hole in one shot the first shot it is 3 points deducted from your score. the way they score it is your first shot at the intended target is your eagle shot for 3 points. if you miss you shoot that target again for birdie for 4 points and if you miss the target again you shoot the classics target at acloser range for par.which is 5 points. Classics shooters would shoot their closer target. if you miss it you get no more shots on that hole and are given 6 points and a bogie. you repeat this for 9 targets or as they call it 9 holes. it is very fun. best darn golf game I have ever played. you can go to their website for all the information at Spiritridgeriflegolf.com.

don't hold me to those scores. I didn't see the score cards. I do know that par is 36 points. the scoring moght be 2,3,4, and 5. it just gives an idea how they work it. I scored a 29 with 21 shots and my wife scored a 31 with 22 shots. She shot classics and I shot masters. She shot classics even though she was using my rifle just cause she hadn't shot a lot of long range yet and we were breaking her in. She ended up breaking me in.

Roy its motrapper
what going on did you get deported
the wife and i had a blast shooting the course with you and I was hoping we could do it again before elk season here in utah it would be nice for afew of us to throw out some dates between now and oct 3rd for alittle practice hope to hear from some on this forum in utah and maybe school the idaho crew slash deported to mexico crew

I just slammed my glove atcher feet, or whatever it is that is proper.:D

You'll have to wait til I get back up north tho.

motrapper is a piece of cake. However his wife is coming on strong.

If we could get a team from ID together, we could surely smoke any group from Utar, even GG, Grit, 7mmRB and their whole crowd. We could even shoot left handed using the right eye........gun)

Bring it on. But we'll have none of the following half way through:

  • My barrel musta got bent in travel.
  • Hey, my scope got knocked off.
  • ??? Did my powder get wet, I sure don't see how.
  • I forgot to reset to zero before starting. It was on zero when I started. Darn it was the wrong zero. (Happened to me when I was there w/motrapper:rolleyes:)
  • What elevation is this, anyway?
:D:D:D

I am all for the Idahoans vs. the Utards.:) It would be a great time. I am actually planning my next trip to Spirit ridge in the next 2 weeks if my buddy and I can get our schedules to pan out.
