Going against the grain

I don't know how odd it is, but I put together a pair of 7.62x39 uppers. One a 16" and the other an 18" I've shot the 16 a bunch, but only have a couple mags thru the 18. I get a kick out of shooting that round out of an AR, sort of like an oxymoron or something.....

Built a 6.5CM with a heavy Kreiger barrel and have not shot it. Decided that I didn't want to be reloading for an auto-loader. Have had it FS for while with no bites. I guess CM fans aren't AR fans.....

How far out have you pushed the 7.62x39 uppers?

300 yards, clanged the range's gong with the 16. Took a couple rounds to find it with a Bushnell 1-4x that wasn't well zero'd. Haven't had the 18 at the range.

I'm used to hitting that gong with rainbow trajectories. I've hit it with a .22LR and a lead 165 out of a 14" .30-30 Contender. So don't read too much into this.
