Get the popcorn out

But it didn't say Creedmoor after it. That seems to be the magic?
It probably wasn't loaded or designed for heavy for caliber bullets. It was pre heat shield tip and eld series of bullets. But let's not let facts get in the way of more fuddlore

I wish people (not you wyo37) would leave the the misunderstanding of how the rules of war and the Hague and Geneva Conventions work out of firearms and bullet designs ...

I purchased a Tikka super lite in 7mm-08 last year because I got one for my wife almost 20 years ago and it still is an accurate shooter.
Because of all the wisdom and knowledge from the generous folks here I've learned to hand load for accuracy and enjoy shooting a little farther than I used to.
Here comes the fun part, talking with some friends one day and they're telling me about their 6.5 creed's and I say oh I've got 7mm-08 that's a fun little shooter! And I immediately hear " Oh you need a 6.5"!!! So I asked what be the improvement over my 162 eldm's at 2640fps?
CRICKETS, none of em had an answer but 6.5'a are better.
So I'm curious, what will a 6.5 creedmoor do that my 7mm-08 can't?🤷‍♂️

Being fully aware that older cartridges like 243win, 270win, 7-08, 308 can serve as a very good option for this point, if I was buying a new, young hunter their first deer rifle I would probably choose the 6.5CM.

There are many options at the LGS for both the rifle itself as well as quality ammo including the very light recoil loads that I would want to start them with and it grows with them so they can still hunt with it using up to 140 grain loads that are also readily available.

I only own one 6.5CM and that is a Barrett Fieldcraft ... for all of the same reasons the 6.5CM makes sense for a young hunter, it is also relatively easy to shoot accurately in very lightweight guns.

Velocities starting with a 1..... need not apply only to hand guns..only problem the deer can see it coming.....300 yards 400 max.
( L - R) 500 gr dual diameter RNFP, 560 gr no taper RNFP PP, 300 win mag 220 SMK 3.360 for scale , 45-90 500 3.590, 45-90 560 3.316 . Powder charge is compressed BP about 85 2F which gives 1350+- MV.

Thought I would go old school this year, though easy mode rifles are at hand.

Ever shot a gong on chains with that 45-90? I bet it wraps the chains tight at 200 yds.
