But here is the answer from a greedy oil company. Seems that before the war on fossil fuels prices were down. Trump had us drilling at home prices were low. Biden comes in stands in the neck of drilling and we are back to record prices same as with Obama.

I did not realize that Biden had the power to stop canadian oil companies from pumping oil. Is there any documentation of any sort to back that up? Its not shutting down the xl pipeline because it was not in production and pipelines don't produce oil. How exactly is Biden preventing American oil companies from opening the spigots? He provides no explanation of anything he is saying. You think he would point out what Biden is doing to prevent oil companies from producing more oil. I guess he just assumes that everyone knows what it is because its not the xl pipeline, its not anwr, its not the lack of leases or permits. Besides that, those permits are for federal land which makes up like 10% to 15% of oil produced in this country. Is there some fantom regulation that no one can point out but know exists that is somehow keeping oil companies from opening the spigots? The guy is a blowhard who just wants to be heard and he is pushing a narrative that is supported by fox news so he gets air time. He also does a radio show so maybe he is trying to bump his ratings.

Also, you point out that oil prices are based on speculation. Oil jumped last week because Europe announced it was no longer going to buy russian oil, not because of anything Biden did. Oil is not going to come down unless all of the major producers start opening the spigot, not just the US which is why Biden has been talking to all of them. They all turned off the spigot in 2020. The whole notion that Biden wants foreign producers to produce more oil so the US does not have to in order to save the climate or even better he is doing it to destroy the American economy is ridiculous. I am going to let people in on a little secret. When the greenies talk about climate change, it doesn't just affect the US. Its a global thing so stopping oil production here and getting others to produce for us has zero positive effect. Get your head around that one.

Hence no new investment pumping into it to get new oil flowing. It costs millions to get one going who is gonna do that when they may be **** down. See the xl pipeline. That's tens of millions invested only to have the government shut it down and they are now screwed. Would you invest in something knowing they may shut it down and you get nothing?

First, you proved my point that the billionaire oil refiner is full of BS because Biden is not keeping north american oil producers from opening the spigot. They are doing it by choice. Secondly, the oil industry has been regulated and taxed since the beginning of time. And by the way, what new regulations and what new taxes? Also, Biden is temporary. If the oil producers are worried about the US becoming less fossil fuel dependant, its because they see the country as a whole is wanting to become less fossil fuel dependent.

Also, what the billionaire oil refiner did not care to mention is that in order to get oil back to $68 a barrel, the US oil industry would not only have to get back to 2019 production levels if not more but they would need to pick up the slack for the other major oil producers that are not up to 2019 production levels as well as take up the slack over europe not buying Russian oil. He also does not mention that our oil refineries are at 92% capacity and that there are still oil refineries in Texas that are still offline from the winter storm they had and there are oil refineries that were shut down in 2020 along with oil wells that have not been brought back online. You would think he would bring that up since he owns an oil refinery but it does not fit into the narrative he was pushing for fox news.

There are new leases and the US oil companies did not have anything invested in the pipeline. It was not their pipeline nor their oil flowing through it. It was transCanada's oil. The reason they are not investing is because they don't need to. They have never made profits like they are today.

No. The pipeline is several years from completion. Also, it is low grade oil which we don't use in this country so its not for us. It get shipped from canada to our coast and then shipped overseas.
