Fovorite caliber for coyotes and why

I do a lot of night Hunting for them here and you can only use 22 calibers. My favorite is my 22-250 loaded with 50 grain Vmax and running 4009 fps. It absolutely flattens them like a steam roller. Favorite transport? My mini jeep. That thing is so much fun Hu ting close to home.

I prefer the 50g Sierra Spt vs V max. Why you ask, because the Sierra will penetrate much better on quartering shots, to and fro. especially with a MV of 4150 out of a 12-14T 22/250 AI. I have a picture where the 50g V max did not shoot a hole though a coyote's head at a distance of 320 yards as he was looking over a bush at me.

In a 243 Win for coyotes, the 80g Sierra lead tip blitz is amazing, we abandoned the 85g BTHP for this bullet as the 80 shoots flatter and transfers more shock on the coyote. We shoot the 80s with an over Book max load of IMR 4064, fed 210 at 3400 fps and when you connect on a coyote, it sounds like you just hit a block wall with a very, very loud PLOP sound!.

Maybe that extra little speed is just too much for the Vmax. At 4009fps I've shot through coyotes long ways at 300 yards. Bullet entering its chest and exiting the hind leg. I also shot one through the eyeball with its head kind of down and that exited the hind leg also.

I just got this yote recently, 75gr ELDM's at 176 yards.. My "Budget AR Build" has been my go to for a couple of years. It took awhile to find him. I also got a 496 yard badger on the second shot. It's a TAC load so I'm sure it's faster than in the winter when I developed it. Right on the ragged edged for summer heat. I just bought a Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian .223 for coyotes and varmints. My 260 AI and 7mm Rem Mag will be used for ELR work.

How do you get the 75gr ELDM in an AR mag? Single loading?

I killed hogs with the same 50g Sierra spt, it is a high velocity spt. Lots of really good bullets out there. I shoot the 50g V max in my 223 AI at 3800 with H335 with amazing accuracy.

The 22/204 is especially accurate and fast with the 55s doing 3800 with tiny groups with IMR XBR 8208 with br4's. The 55g V max is shocking in how accurate it is.

My favorite so far is the 6 Creed with the 87gr V-Max at 3280 (18" suppressed). Working with the 80gr ELD-VT and have them up over 3300 so far. I have 700 or so of the 87s and they work great. I have killed them with everything from a suppressed Ruger pistol, bow, shotguns, and my 223 Tikka Varmint with 65 SGK and the 75gr ELDM.

For 30+ years it was 22/250. Last few years it's been 22 CM. Been loading 80 gr ELD-M, but have some 73 gr hammers to try this winter.

My 22CM is my favorite rifle out of all of them. Flat and great range. Sometimes it's fur friendly sometimes it's not. If you stay off bone it does really good.
