I have several rifles with brakes on them. My 300WM has a Precision Armament m4-72 brake with their brake shim kit set up, my 260 Rem has a $30 EBay purchased brake on it used with shims from my kit, my 243 Win RPR has a self timing brake on it, and my 28 Nosler has a Muzzle Brakes and More 4 port Little Beast on it (timed and tapered by a smith).
They all do their purpose, but of all of them, I prefer the use of the shim kit brakes, because I can do it myself. My 260 is a heavy tapered barrel with a brake, so it doesn't even kick or move when fired.
Good luck!
