This has been a great year for new cartridges for me. I like to harvest each deer with a different cartridge just to test them out and my second buck this year was taken with an 8.6 Blackout that I built 2 years ago. I converted Hornady 6.5CM brass and used 350gr Maker Bullets loaded with H110, going about 1050fps.
This buck came right in toward me and finally quartered at about 10yds. The bullet passed right through and still expanded amazingly well leaving one of the biggest wound channels I had ever seen. The heart was sliced completely open and the lungs were turned into a smoothie. I know a lot of people were saying all sorts of things about the 1:3 twist, but for a close range sub-gun, I am sold! This buck expired 20yds from where I shot him and the blood trail was a highway right to him. I saw him fall 5-10 seconds after the shot.
