Wrong ..I have the build sheet from Alamo. Everything I wanted down to a Bix n Andy
trigger MPA chassis and color scheme The TOTAL price shipped to me was exactly $4398.00! Without rings and glass. Their workmanship is as good as anyone's out there! And I do have others to compare to.

For those who think they can build a custom for 3K or less, they probably have never had a custom built or spouting off what some other ignorant person has posted on the Internet. Hey, I am not asking them to take my word for it they should call some of the smiths and ask them what it would cost.

I just had a 338 RUM built by Straight Jacket Armory and final total was right at 3k shipped.

- Stiller Predator $850 (bought on Black Friday)
- Bartlein Sendero $350
- 5 port self timing brake $160
- Hawkins BDL bottom metal $160
- Trigger tech special $180
- Grayboe Renegade $280 (on sale)
- Wyatt's extended box $40
- Action screws, spring, follower ~ $50
- Gunsmithing fees $850 (included chambering, fitting barrel to action, threading for brake, timing brake, bedding stock, cerakote to action barrel and bottom metal)

Obviously the price will go up as you add carbon barrels, high end stocks, etc. Just wanted to share.

I have only had a few full customs and a mess of semi customs. I have a 338 Ultra Max (Edge improved) with about 100 rounds through it for sale over on 24 hour campfire built by Kirby Allen. It has fired 3 shot groups under an inch at 500 yards. That rifle was built a couple years ago on an factory Vanguard action and it was just over $3000 with a McMillan A5 I'm selling it complete with a Night Force NXS, the custom dies and a pile of new components for $5500. Our local long range smith Straight Shooter Supply can deliver a basic full custom for right at $3000 based on a custom action. Just a quick look around I came up with the following numbers. Some are a little high and some a little low but it gives an idea.
Action 950
Barrel 450
Trigger Tech Diamond 280
brake 250
Chambering 350
pillar bedding 250
nice steel bottom metal 250
stock allowance 600
Cerakote 250
Total is $3630.

If I made it a single shot and waited on the Cerakote and used a cheaper trigger I can see $3000 being a very realistic number. Who is charging more than these numbers?

Right now Straight Shooter Supply is building me a very deluxe long range 28 Nosler on a Defiance action with a 30" Bartlein in an adjustable McMillan A5 and it will be $3870 out the door.

No one has mentioned the
Not Custom ,custom rifle
Savage action -Shilling barrel 300 WinMag 225 ELDs
It will shoot long range and kill with the most expensive rig out there

Looks like you about shut this thread down with some real numbers! Lol. Its kind of funny how some guys define custom as top of the line, most expensive components...when really you can put together a really nice rig for $3k that will hangwith those $4500-$5,000 customs!

A Christensen ridgline will get you what you want for about 2 grand and leave you a grand for a good rangefinder too go with it

ARP builds start at $2,800 to $3,200, is that not a custom rifle? I've built what I've considered customs using blue printed factory actions. I'd say I'm into them for around $3,000 or less, but maybe my idea of a custom rifle is different than everyone else. Though my gunsmith did say his average cost for a custom in 2017 was $3,200 for a full custom, so I'd imagine prices are going up.

I have been looking to build a rifle in .338 am. I've been searching the web for parts as I want to put one together myself. Now and sending action to have the barrel installed and finished. I want to use a semi-inlet wood stock to fit and finish myself. I am a total do it yourselfer and want to learn how to build a rifle. From what I have gathered so far.
Trued Rem action 475.00
Douglas barrel. 500.00
Stock anywhere from 75.00 to 500.00. The one I have my eye on is 200ish
Bottom metal. 200.00
Brake installed. 200.00

Total. 1575.00

I know this isn't top if the line parts, but I am fairly sure it will work for hunting and poking holes in paper. I am not counting any of my labor or Miscellaneous parts.

Take a look at TS Customs. I bought a 6.5 PRC that he built and it is the absolute best rifle I've ever owned or shot. Will be buying another custom from him for sure.
