After going back and forth the last month or so comparing the Leupold 1000i, the Vortex 1000, and the Leica 1600B - I have decided on the Leica.

I just ran into too many negatives on consistent ranging on animals with the Vortex and Leupold. The reviews on the Leica models seemed more consistent and positive.

Not saying the Leupold is bad, nor the Vortex. I have some Vortex binocs and for the money, I could not be happier. But a rangefinder had to have all the attributes I wanted, and range and ease of getting that range was at the top of the list.

So now I begin the journey of finding a decent deal on the 1600B.

I know everyone lists them at MSRP. but I also know there are deals to be found.

Any opinions or recommendations?

You may have to wait for the "right deal" or an internet sale, but I am pretty confident that you will not have any buyers remorse with your decision.

Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks! I think you are right....I don't think there will be any buyers remorse at all!

Cameraland NY sometimes have open box deals. I bought a open box 1600B and saved about 150 bucks. Could not be happier with the tool. They are a sponsor on this sight.

+1, good call. I bought a Swaro Z5 demo from them a few years back. The scope showed up two days later and it had drop-shipped from Swaro USA. Demo? It didn't look like the box had been opened. I was very happy.

Yeah I have seen their demos for sale, but they knock the warranty down to 3 months.
