Summary of 2013 legislation


Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

• Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
  
  • 120 specifically-named firearms
  • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
  • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
• Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
  
  • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
  • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
  • Banning firearms with "thumbhole stocks" and "bullet buttons" to address attempts to "work around" prior bans
• Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
• Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
  
  • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
  • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
  • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
• Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
  
  • Background check of owner and any transferee;
  • Type and serial number of the firearm;
  • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
  • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
  • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

It all bothers me cause its just about making more money for them! Everyone with some brain mass between their ears knows that this will do JACK SHHHHH to stem, stop or prevent evil. They only way to fight evil guys with guns it with good guys with guns.

If I understand this correctly, she has included such rifles as the M1-carbine as assault rifles. Everything under the ban would cost $200 to register, and the only place the banned article can go after you pass on is to the Federal Government, no inheritance of a family heirloom.
Apparently she did extensive research including personally looking at pictures of guns she intends to ban!
Does anyone else find it disturbing that a bunch of people who know little to nothing about guns are going to tell the rest of the country what they may or may not own?
This is happening! They ARE trying to do this! Contact your representative; let them know you do not agree with this!
Regardless of whether you own a semi auto rifle or pistol, I think this is a bad idea. I think this will push a lot of arms into the hands of criminals who do not care if there is a ban or not! I do not want this for our country!

If you go to her website, it outlines the bill she wants to introduce. I think a ruger 10-22 would be a no no also. So, for instance, you have numerous rifles or handguns that fit her ban. You pay a tax stamp of $200.00 for each and then when you die, you have to "forfeit" them to the government. ***?
My plan is that they go with me in the furnace. They are a religious implement that I used throughout my life and they go with me to the sacred ground. They couldn't possibly screw with my religious beliefs now, could they?

Feinstein is definitely going the all or nothing approach with this. If her bill passes as is, the fallout would be bad for all.
On one hand, I regret selling my AR's last summer for some badly needed cash. On the other hand, I would not regret not having to do the whole NFA registration fiasco, unless my 10-22 falls under the list. Either way, I will fight for the rights to own these type firearms without registration, as I can forsee this quickly turning into a confiscation.

What has me concerned about this is the vaguely worded definitions, which would of course be decided by lawyers after the fact. I have a few pistols that come with "under 10rd" magazines, but as you all know, the amount of rounds the pistol will "accept" is all determined by the magazine that is inserted. I've never seen one, but I'm pretty sure there is a 30rd magazine for my 1911 pistol, which would turn it into an "assault pistol" by her terms. I think this bill, as written, would essentially outlaw the possession of ANY semi-auto pistol or rifle without an NFA registration. This simply won't do.

It looks like this is delayed confiscation. You can have it, but you have to pay extra for it, you can't transfer it to anyone else, you have to register it, and then when you die, it is confiscated.

So, bottom line, it confiscated. I do not know if all pistols with detachable magazine would be banned, but it does say that all pistols with fixed magazines that held more than 10 rounds would be banned, so it would seem that all detachable magazines would be on the chopping block. (and looks like your 10-22 might be on there as well)

I hope to god that eveyone who owns guns, hunts, believes in the constitution, believes in FREEDOM, reads her proposed legislation. It is horrendous.
Some of my acquaintences are fairly laxadasical about the proposal but it is outright scary. Someone else said it earlier, if you ain't involved, it is TIME. It is time to stand up to what you believe and to stand up for what is RIGHT.
