Glad you caught it before buying. I ran into the same thing a couple years back in which i was lucky enough buying. I do love that german glass!!!

Happened to my buddy while bidding uninformed on GB. That one's a fake. The turrets give it away. As a side note, there for a while there was a lot of Counterfiet Leupolds circulating the gunshows and ebay. I can't tell you how many ebay listing's I reported where someone was selling a fake VX3 as an auction and the people that don't know better were bidding it to close to MSRP. I find that generally the lettering, the finish and the turrets will give it away. The fake ones have a finish much like your sub $100 cheapie scopes. Kinda shiny without much "depth"

I love them. I bought 4 from Red Hawk when they were discontinued and two in Houston. Best glass for the money. I have some with hunting turrets and some with Target.
They ALL have serial numbers
Not sure if they made 4-16.

If they are like the ones in the picture they are fake and not worth 25c
