I went from using the barnes 140's for many years to the barnes LRX 145. It opens up a little faster on deer and still penetrates elk from side to side when launched from a 280 AI at 3100 FPS. Provides about a 5 to 6" wound channel from start to finish. R-19 has worked well for me in the Ackley but others have gotten better velocity from R-23 and R-26 in their Mags. For the shorter barrel, you might want to use a little faster powder or a heavier bullet.
