What affects the eye box in scopes? Zoom range, FFP vs SFP, length of scope, diameter of tube, diameter of ocular? What should a guy look for in a scope for a generous eye box? Or is it some type of manufacturing voodoo all in itself?

The exit pupil of an optic gets smaller with
• increasing magnification, and
• decreasing objective lens size.

And a smaller exit pupil usually affects the illusive "eye box". By mentioning voodoo you already hint in the right direction: eye box is hard to define and (afaik) does not have an established measure....
We measure exit pupil, and then science ends and "feel" begins...
