Erik Cortina

I knew as soon as I saw he commented on the post it wasn't gonna be good. He is the first one I've ignored. That's pretty good for a forum. I love this place!
We don't have to always agree, we can adamantly disagree. I really don't see the need to personally attack someone. If there was some kind of dealing between the two that's one thing. But that can be handled privately. The firearms community/ industry is pretty small. Meat mouthing people is not appreciated.

Update: This isn't meant towards BFD Guns. But towards BG.

I've listened to Eric's videos. There are things we don't agree upon, but it just comes down to "different strokes for different folks".
I personally neck size belted cartridges until they need a constant shoulder bump. And I use a forster bump neck die for nearly all loadings after the shoulder bump is necessary. I'm a good shot and load accurate ammo, but don't shoot 1000 yard stuff. I hunt and require my guns shoot honest sub moa groups consistently...they often shoot closer to half moa.

Reloading is a bit like a golf swing....

I apologize. I couldn't resist lol.

Please gentlemen, be aware of the danger of judgement. Even judgement of the judgmental, will have you feeding yourselves to the darkest of things. Do not diminish yourselves, nor cause one another to be diminished.

Here's a daily inspirational I put up on my instagram just the other day:

Rom 14:11-13 KJV 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

Do you shoot a few rounds to foul the barrel before you go hunting? If I understand you correctly it seems this would fix the issue you describe.
Yes…..this time for some reason I thought I needed to clean it after watching his cleaning regime video. It was my own stupidity but I was trying to rule out what the problem was…..definitely wasn't the barrel being overly dirty!!!
From time to time I forget how cleaning at the wrong moment or when it's not needed screws things up for me because I go years without cleaning and I forgot the last time I've cleaned my barrel lol.
It takes more to foul the barrel than just a few…..for consistency, it takes 20-30 rnds or up to 50 depending on how clean a person gets it, I'm not shooting that much every time I clean to foul the barrel, so I'm not cleaning until absolutely necessary!! I've done this twice now and wasted my time and components from cleaning too much, hopefully it won't happen a third lol!

I couldn't agree more. I enjoy his videos but don't take everything as bible for everyone.
Neck size with a shoulder bump works great for my purposes. I personally haven't seen a performance difference between neck size with a shoulder bump, and full length sizing. I avoid the hassle of trimming chamfer and debur, and lube. Group sizes have been great. But I FL size when it becomes required to do it.
And the golf swing analogy is spot on. Different strokes for different folks.

Why would you get more bolt tension with neck sizing with a shoulder bump?
I've never noticed that.
There is a difference with neck sizing and neck sizing with shoulder bump. Neck sizing usually refers to neck sizing only. While when you're shoulder bumping you are generally neck sizing at the same time.

Update: So when you say neck size with shoulder bump and I say shoulder bump we are doing the same thing. When I say neck size it refers to neck size only without shoulder bump. I occasionally still do a neck size only to rule out a variable on troublesome rifles. But I generally don't like neck size only because of the added tension I get while closing the bolt.

I need to get one of his EC tuner brakes. It reminds me of the Browning BOSS I played with years ago. The BOSS worked surprisingly good. Looks like the EC tuner does too.
I have high hopes for it. I have an ATS tuner to put behind suppressors, but this is the first time I've done a brake/tuner. Not sure what a brake will do on a 12# 6.5CM other than annoy people though.

I buy cheap little round count books for every rifle/ barrel and suppressor, and have a maintenance log for each type (rifle/shotgun/pistol/AR) . I can't keep track of everything otherwise. Might seem silly to some, but I know the exact round count of every barrel I own that was new when I got it.
