EDC Protection for our Gals…..

They can, however they just look a little different….

I just looked on their website and they said they cannot get the same cartridges as LEO. Civilians are limited to 15ft. LEO's can get the 25-35 ft cartridges. It's true that some "look" the same as LEO TASERs, and the basic technology for the "shock" is the same. But the cartridges that LEO's can get will have more range than the civilian variety. I don't see the TASER shotgun "shells" around. It looks like that never came to fruition.

Yeah, there are differences such as "probe distance", lack of software, etc but other than that they are virtually identical to what I currently carry. However, at that cost I wouldn't wanna simply leave it behind after deployment. That's why I linked the civilian models designed to be abandoned after deployment…..at a far less price tag.

"In Federal Buildings"...nothing. No weapons of any kind.
"At college football games", if there are metal detectors or check points, nothing. They will be confiscated and persons possibly detained or arrested if caught.
"In school locker rooms", less than lethal maybe.

Anywhere else, I would rather my daughter be "Judged by 12, than carried by six". My daughters have had handguns for years. Told them (as a minor) if they would ever get pulled over with it, have the officer call me and I will vouch we are meeting at a shooting range and you are on the way there. There are adults now, so no more worries about that.

Just my .02, but I would recommend having them take some QUALITY self defense training. There is no replacement for knowing how to strike effectively and knowing the proper techniques for dealing with different attacks. I emphasize quality, as there are lots of half *** teachers out there who claim to be something special and in reality have no idea what they are doing. I strongly recommend Krav Maga as their first choice in self defense systems.

It's shameful our nation has come to this. Tasers, pepper spray, anything is better than nothing. Those ninja key chains are another option. Just need to walk with them in their hands everywhere they go alone. Unfortunately they have to be close enough to smash them in the eye.

We just need to go back to public stoning and it may make some folks think before they leap.

In this day and age, we need good people to do bad things to bad people without fear of becoming labeled the bad people...

If I had a daughter, I'd probably encourage her to take up wrestling. That's about as close to a real life street battle they'll get. Some martial arts are fine but wrestling and some other arts saved my bacon. I'd add some knife training to know what that is capable of close in.

My sisters and I took Kali for many years. It prepared my sisters before going away for college. Growing up I was always fascinated with all kinds of weapons. I started making my own, unfortunately, none of them are non-lethal. 😂😂😂

ADDED:

I work in military installation and I am not supposed to bring firearms to work but this is what I have in my drawer at work.

A pocket knife for cutting fruits and meat, the bigger knife for cutting cakes (everybody in my squadron uses it). The sling shot is for the hallway shots. I also have throwing knives and flying picks (broadhead) but it is concealed in my locked drawer. 😎

All kinds of make shift defensive devices. Keys, cards, pillowcases stuffed with goodies, jackets with heavy zippers, the list goes on. I miss the days when you could carry a kubaton.

Since it's show and tell here's mine. The boss said I can carry at work. I'm too old and fat to run. Probably too old and fat to roll around or use edged weapons.

Not sure I'd recommend the Tasers that Law Enforcement typically uses. In order to be of any effect the user would have to stick around and make sure that awful 5 second ride (I've taken it as well) took place……BEFORE removing the cartridge instead of vacating the area immediately. They also shouldn't be left behind.
However, there is the Taser "Bolt II" and Taser "Pulse II" for civilian use. They both provide a HELLISH 30 second "ride" for the attacker and are designed to be placed on the ground after deployment in order to effect an escape.

Are those one time use?

Sister in law ended up with one when they first came out a few years ago, cursory look at the website and the ecosystem certainly has more options than when hers was purchased. Despite the sketchy area they lived at the time we absolutely could not get her to carry a leathal option. They have a few more projectile options and the guns look a little more refined. At the end of the day it's essentially a co2 cartridge brightly colored expensive paintball gun with spicy paintballs.

Being the rednecks we are, her husband and I promptly went out put paintball masks on and shot each other with it. Me being the asthmatic took a few from the "training ammo" which at the time were essentially stale paintballs, and he took the spicy round. It was definitely effective at transferring pepper spray to someone farther away. With that said, tough old farm boy took it like a champ. If he ever ceases to be the nicest person I know, we're gonna need more than spicy paintballs to stop him.

We didn't try the kinetic rounds, although I've used a similar out of a traditional paintball marker on problem animals and it was more effective than the paint at getting them to skedaddle.

Don't think she ever really carried it, and now they live in an area where all she carries is a can of pepper spray.

I'd think it would be effective at stopping general mischief, not sure it would stop someone flying high on whatever is the current drug of choice.

* I'll mirror the sentiment of others, it's a heartbreak as to what our country has become. Came home for Christmas and got invited out to a friend's private range that's a few hrs drive. Decided to take the wife as she needs more practice, watched her pull an assortment of firepower from bike frame bags, running vests, the camelbak and a briefcase. All bought as a result of various times she was mugged by reality, quite the transition from the rose colored glasses she saw the world as when we were college freshman.

We live a mirror life to that of my grandparents, my grandmother's only gun was an old bolt rifle with a beat up old wood stock with some irons and a thin leather sling. I've no idea what it was or where it ended up, but have found some old 300hh ammo in her kitchen when we cleaned out the old house. Have vague memories of her carrying it to go berry picking as a kid. By the time we were middle schoolers it was gone, and if gran wanted to go berry picking or walk to a friend's house when the bears were out one of us boys escorted her. Don't think she envisioned or could understand a world where young women would need such firepower as my wife carries now.
