Eating Coyote

If you boys ever want to try this I will save you a few steps. You do not need a coyote. Just cut up an old used bicycle inner tube. Season and cook. Tasting is up to you. I am sure it is much like the real thing.

Maybe it's just because I love hunting them, but I love the smell of pronghorn!! The only ones that smell bad to me are the gut shot ones.....
I have to admit I'm not a fan of the smell of pronghorn either. I have a set of horns in the garage that still smell too pungent to me to bring into the house.

The worst game I've eaten was a black bear that my dad had to shoot as it got into the cabin and he had grandkids coming. In that case even their dog walked away from a second bite. It must have been eating some nasty meals... that's the main reason I haven't hunted bear yet. Heard enough people say it's tasty so I might give it a try here in colorado

This is truly a rough crowd, I was brought up to eat what you shot But somethings only got hunted once after trying to eat them.

I have an extensive list of things I won't eat that has taken a lifetime to generate. Some things I had to try, others I somehow just knew were not going to be good. Coyote was one of them, or maybe because I thought that if I ate one, I would want to eat $#!t and bark at the moon.o_O.

I had thought about armadillo until i found out that they were the only known carrier of Leprosy.(I'll pass on them) so my list is still intact.

This thread should be in the humor section:):):)

In all my years of hunting all over this country, I've come to the conclusion from experience, that the meat of any animal assumes the flavor of what it consumes. Consequently, a yote, being a predator and scavenger, will eat anything (including each other when necessary) so I'm not about to eat anything that eats carrion or garbage.

Dead and rotting carcasses in, will taste like the dead and rotting crap it consumes. No thanks, I'm not that desperate. Probably tough as nails anyway.

I read some where about a year ago some one was wondering how a coyote would taste. Well I was always taught you eat what you shoot. So the challenge and bucket list item was on. A few days ago I shot a young female in great shape. The perfect coyote for the test. I cut out one side of the back strap. I then cleaned all the silver and connective tissue I could and cut it in small pieces. Marinaded it in butter, salt, and, pepper. Then cooked it rare in a hot iron skillet. Amazed that the flavor was very good. However, it was like eating very very tough, jerky. PS- One piece was enough. My dog would not even eat the rest.

There is a Chinese Cookbook perhaps you could buy...it's called 20 ways to Wok Your Dog.

A friend of mine went to a wild game banquet. Two people brought raccoon. One was done as a barbecue, the other one was done in a crockpot. Both meals got good reviews, not great, but the people that tried it thought it was better than they thought it would it be.

And the ticks that come off them are like peppercorns . They give flavor to the meat
