Dream hunt animal

Frist thing first. As of yesterday, I am officially OLD. I am now a grandfather to a beautiful little girl.

Now to the dream hunt. Years ago I had the same dreams as many here. Cape, Grizzly, Bison, Water buffalo, Ibex and so on, in all the exotic lands.

Now I hunt for meat (no longer chase the horns) and for the challenge. I want to go to hunts where I will be challenged to find the animal, track it, get close enough to take a shot. I'd like to start with the small 5 or small 10. These are "goat size" antelope, very skittish, hard to find in the grass and get a shot. Then I'll go to more challenging hunts, assuming my body is still able to climb mountains and track animals. Its not about the killing, its about the chase and the hunt.

Congratulations on your first grandchild! They're all great…..but, the first always holds a special place.

If a grandchild automatically makes you old….I achieved that "landmark achievement" when I was 39 ! First great grandchild at 61. My granddaughter took her "sweet time" having her first! 😁 memtb

Congrats on the Grand Daughter, I am officially old now as well, my Grandson will be three in April and will be starting (hopefully) his traditional archery journey With His Father his Unkle and Myself with his first long bow.

As far as the dream hunt as much as I have always admired big horn sheep and stones and moose and griz and, and, and....
There still is not much (other than dangerous game) more exciting than bugling a bull Elk into Longbow range!
To be honest I have not killed very many Elk. However, I have taken one with modern rifle, one with revolver one with compound bow, a few with recurve bow and a few with long bow. The trad. Bow kills were with equipment that I had built.witch leaves me in need of taking one with one of my primitive hand made bows and arrows to have taken one with all the styles of bows. (Not interested in crossbow unless maybe I get to the point of not being able to draw a real bow) and then one with my black powder rifle with patch and ball.
All that leads up to a dream hunt during September in a unit anywhere with the bulls (many of them) in an absolute rut fest with bugles all around with a self bow and arrows in one hand and a bugle tube in the other and my two sons and my Grandson with me!

Hmmm…I must be ancient with two great grandkids!
My last granddaughter, now 16, is my hunting bud.
Grandkids and great grandkids are awesome! There's a reason they're called "grand"! LOL!

I'm much older than you, with 6 great grandkids……when that used as a measure of age! 🤔

Grandkids……even the great ones are all awesome! I only wish that I could see mine much more often! Certainly my loss! memtb

Now that would be a dream hunt to me, wither with grand kids or great gand kids, dont care what we hunt, just being out in the nature with them, teaching them, ...dream hunt
Could not agree more. My real dream hunt would be go back in time and hunt with my grandpa. He passed away in 1976. We hunted small game together often and he taught me to trap when I was young. We can only go forward in time however.
